Where are the posters?

I miss @richiekess who was the only one who played my Word Association - Film Edition with me and did so brilliantly.

I'm sure @The_Soulful_Mr_T misses his imaginative plays on Word Association- Music Edition.

Actually I'm being polite, -The full quote is "Hey you bastards, I'm still here!"

To quote Patrick Swayze (ugh) in Ghost, "Ditto."

I'm here waiting for someone to post on Word Association- Music Edition. I'm always ready to make musical puns and odd segues . I limit where I post these days but I'm here.

(I moved to Jersey City a few years ago but still come to Soma often.)

It's a bit quieter.... but I don't really miss the drama.

I have to admit there was a streak of people accusing others of being "mean girls" that turned me off a bit.  But I miss sbenois posts that really tweaked ajc/art's nose about Maplewood in the late 50's.  It was brilliant, especially mentioning Curly's (which I knew about from my father) which lent it a bit of authenticity.

I'm still here to set the SOMA libs straight!

I remember!

As a matter of fact I dropped out for a bit when the mean girls drama was at its peak and when I finally tip toed back in the they were magically gone.  question

I was accused of being a mean girl at one point... could never figure out how I earned that appellation...

Not in MY estimation - there was a very specific group (knew each other IRL I believe)

Yep, and they're all over in Lounge now being snippy and petty.

I remember the mean girls stuff.   That was pretty nutso.

And I certainly remember the post that Bella references.  It took me weeks to research that one and it actually freaked out Fred because I found the song that was number one in the charts when he and Art graduated from CHS and it just happened to be Fred's song with his girlfriend at the time.

But honestly, my favorite post was the infamous Roxannne's Mom tetherball response.   It's been 5 years so it's probably now safe to admit that I wrote it.  I just felt like some people needed a good tweaking.

I think the Crayola Blvd one was fun.   Yeah those were fun days.

Awww... JML figured RoxannesMom was you. I miss her.

If folks want to get other back you have to find out why they left.  Only then can they be wooed to return.  Wife and I felt there was tooooooo much politics.  I truely found myself totally turned off by the Trump Hate-a-thon.  I used to check in here several times a day.  Once repulsed by all I mostly stopped visiting.  Lately I try to remember to stop by acouple of times a week.

As for the idea of a F2F, I once thought about a Sunday morning bowling F2F.

I moved away (to WO) 2 years ago, but I still rely on MOL & a few local WO FB pages to connect online. Lotsa juicy stuff (political & not) goes on around there that nobody but locals seem to care about. I've considered desisting from posting MOL (the West Orange category is pretty much dead, you know) and basically just lurking, but I'm too rooted to the many wonders of MOL - unattainable elsewhere - to disappear entirely.
BTW: IMHO, the erudition and panache of MOL's longtime posters are generally head&shoulders above that of the vast majority of WO's FB posters...

Do you want your avatar back?

Nope, but thanks for crediting me...

 Not Matzoh Charlotte? I’m ferklempt!

The cat-in-the-tree thread reminds me how much I miss Calli  and animal-wise posters like her.

I hope all is well with them and their non-human companions.

 Yeah that was good too.

The never posted follow up was better.

my all-time favorite is Highland Place "Nachos"

20 pages on "Neat Nachos."   That must be a record.  I remember those nachos and they were not 20 page nachos.

I rarely come here anymore and yes the FB groups have hard to follow threads as well

- I like to recall all the "good" things that came out of this site - helping save an injured cat on Springfield Ave- the cat in the tree- Food drives that needed help- Kidlits school in Orange -  giving away stuff that I heard from posters later were so thankful (mini fridge for a school way before DonorsChoose)

Great history of the towns as well - houses we love to look at- and the most surprisingSkinner

Organ at Columbia High School- Pete n Pete being filmed in SO...

I could go on and on about real differences that MOL was part of... Thanks to Jamie n Dave!

it was more like 15 pages about "condescending food."

Framistan! (shameless plug)

The many threads which emphasized what a support group we had become.

The 911 threads where we held a roll call to see who was still there and then went on to share our experience on that day.  I still remember the harrowing description from one poster who wrote of her escape from one of the upper floors of the World Trade Center.  The frequent face to face meetings and multiple threads that followed in which we helped each other through a very difficult time.

The many threads in which we rallied to help a poster in need and then rallied IRL to provide needed assistance.

The community projects that grew out of our group discussions.  We didn't just post back then.  We did something to resolve local issues.

The multiple threads in which we helped each other through The Reval - providing information and advice.

The many ways in which we bridged the on-line and IRL worlds to become one world that encompassed both.

I'm still around.

I don't worry as much about the furnace.

 That was a great thread.

Tops is still Pablo, the PeaPod guy and the rest of the Rock Spring soap opera IMO.  Maybe the Ambien thread is up there somewhere.

And as far as legends go, the ever-infamous and purportedly-lost-to-time-and-before-my-time MOL boob thread has to reign supreme.
