When you have to follow up "I DID NOT suggest the Jews were behind 9/11" with "even if I did", you have a problem.

 Right.

Alternatives:

1.  If nan does not respond then she is a racist.

2.  If nan states  that she "DID NOT suggest the Jews were behind 9/11" then she is a racist.

Do you see a problem with your analysis?

The "even if I did" here suggests that there is some scenario where it is acceptable to suggest that "the Jews were behind 9/11."

There is not.

There is no combination of words that can follow the "even if I did" that ends well.

I generally argue in favor of more nuance, but 9/11 trutherism is a topic I'm completely comfortable making a blanket statement on -- any position short of "9/11 wast not an inside job, and neither Israel, nor "the Jews" were involved," is completely unacceptable. And I have absolutely zero interest in engaging with people who feel differently about this.

And that's already more time than this nonsense deserves. Any other posts I make on this thread I'll keep to the topic of the 2020 candidates.

 Two questions:

(1) Who are you quoting in the second quote of your post?

(2) Do you have a problem with people who say that the Saudi Arabian government was involved in 9/11?

Never a straight answer.  You could just say it Paul.  You could just say that you don't believe that Israel was behind 9/11.  But you can't because deep in your antisemitic heart you believe its the truth.

Your mock outrage is pathetic.

I will say for someone “sick of the same old blather”, you are one of the more repetitive posters. If I had to drink every time I’ve read “great uncle grabby”, I’d be under the table by now. (Also “Bernie the millionaire”).

I never say "Bernie the millionaire"  That is Sbenois.

I think, if you ask yourself whether any regular on this thread would reasonably make that mistake, and then take a moment to consider what Smedley really meant, you’ll see a comment that simply said you were “one of” the more repetitive posters and parenthetically followed it with an example of another one.

No, please don't. We need a variety of voices. Its easy to step on each other's fingers, (trying to be clever here, fingers instead of toes, a keyboard reference.)

We just need another active political thread to bounce into when we get stuck in an argument that's going nowhere. Then its easy to bounce back in when everyone has had a time out.

Lots going on for an alternative thread.  Kavanaugh could turn out to be a few days worth of headlines. I know you are not a fan of Klobuchar, but she was pretty good during the hearings and she has pounced on the new accusation.

You are a wonderful person. rolleyes

I'm having trouble finding where I was asked if Israel was behind 9/11, so I'm not sure where you get your "Never a straight answer" thing.

But since you asked, I've seen no evidence that suggests that Israel was behind 9/11.

On the other hand, I think the 9/11 victims lawsuit contains evidence that strongly suggests that Saudi Arabia was behind 9/11.

I've posted references to the lawsuit and asked PVW about it, but he/she has avoided them.  So I'll ask you:

What is your opinion of the 9/11 victims' lawsuit against Saudi Arabia, and the DOJ withholding documents about the FBI investigation of Saudi Arabia? And we can discuss Robert Mueller's odious role later.

There's lots of disgruntlement among Sanders supporters for sure as a reply. Lots of anger and accusations that the WFP has sold out to corporate interests. A few people who are threatening to stop donations and quit the mailing list.

Glenn Greenwald writes an excellent comment on Tulsi's condemnation of Trump for saying his response to the drone attacks will depend on what Saudi Arabia says:

At the second link, you can see that some Bernie fans are not taking it well, and using the Twitter to vent about it.

SIOUX CITY -- Hawaii congresswoman and Democratic presidential contender Tulsi Gabbard took a swipe at the Democratic National Committee Sunday morning at a town hall event at Morningside College.

Gabbard, one of the lower-polling Democrats vying for the nomination, did not make the cut for the third Democratic debate Thursday. She said Iowa primary voters are more important in selecting a nominee than DNC officials.

"The DNC doesn't get to choose, they're not the gatekeepers even though they think they are," Gabbard said.

"Not being on the stage means we all have to work a heck of a lot harder."

Moreover, Gabbard said the nationally televised debates, apart from whatever publicity candidates get by taking part, don't give candidates much chance to articulate their policy positions.

"The 30- to 60-second answers don't provide the kind of opportunity that we have here today to really get into these issues," Gabbard said. "So, debate or no debate, we are focused on continuing to reach directly to voters."

Roughly 30 people turned out to hear Gabbard's pitch and ask questions.

Tulsi the 1%er might want to look in the mirror to see where the problem is.   Stop blaming the DNC Tulsi.  Stop telling your campaign workers that they need to work harder.

Face facts: you are an awful candidate.  30 people!

nohero is making this a bigger deal than it is because he's looking to dump on Bernie and especially Bernie supporters anyway he can. (Also, he seems to stalk Paul on twitter.) The Sanders supporters have a right to be annoyed with this endorsement because it is politically motivated, rather than mission oriented.    That said, I don't think anyone is hugely surprised since they have done some weird endorsements in the recent past, such as endorsing Joe Crowley over AOC.  This is typical of many organizations that start out on the left and end up in the center.

The big problem in New York is that Cumo favors Biden and he is letting a bill to extend Democratic registration sit on his desk.  This was a big problem in 2016, when young people wanted to vote for Bernie and found out that to do that, they needed to have been registered something like six months or more before. Because of that, there is a bill to extend registration to much closer to voting as it is in most states.  But, not doing that favors long-term Dems who are more likely to favor Biden.   So, the rigging of the 2020 election is already in place with a nice act of Democratic votor suppression.

It seems strange that the WFP would deliver an endorsement with over four months remaining before Iowa. But maybe their announcement at this stage of the game gives them some notoriety?
