How cool is Obama?

He called where he is speaking tonight "Mile High Stadium!"

Posted By: liv2Bill and Hillary's genuine admiration of Joe Biden came through, and Bill used Obama's choice of Biden for VP as the impetus for his change of heart about an Obama administration. If it wasn't genuine, he deserves an Oscar.

Bill's astute assessment that Obama's INSTINCTS combined with Biden's EXPERIENCE will deliver the promised change was both credible and resonant. The two of them make for the fabled "Candidate Y" if you will.

Posted By: jemI've been watching the convention on CSPAN - I really prefer watching it unmoderated. Who the heck cares what the smarmy talking heads think?

We went that route last night as well - switching between CSPAN and Thirteen's HD coverage. Much easier to actually hear the speeches instead of inane commentary about them (sometimes over them!). CNN *really* ticked me off with their little stunt after Hillary's speech, so I'll be steering clear of filtered coverage. "Best Political Team" - give me a break!

Chris Matthews seemed drunk last night - his hair was all messed up and he was pretty much incoherent (more so than usual). I would happily watch MSNBC if they would just turn the whole thing over to Rachel Maddow and Chuck Todd. Bill redeemed himself and I really like Biden's speech. The intro by his son was extremely moving.

I was in a hotel room the night before with only access to CNN which I never usually watch. What a nightmare that was!

Chris Matthews has been an absolute mess for days now.

And what is with Chris Matthews' hair!?

And what is with Chris Matthews' hair!?

I also switched to CSpan last night! So much better without the panel commenting on everything as it happens.

The ovation for Bill was deafening, and many were in tears.

I think liv2 summed it up absolutely perfectly.

As opposed to many here, I thought Kerry made a very strong speech and had he shown such cojones in 2004 he would've won.

Matthews hair isn't as lacquered as Olberman's. That the reason. I agree -- I thought Matthews was drunk or something. Those two obviously hate each other.

Obviously - watch this clip:

Rachel Maddow really is the best, isn't she?

The Matthews and Olbermann thing is coming to a head any minute now. It's going to make for great live television. Just watch, one of them is going to snap big time, and the good money is on Matthews. He's clearly losing it...

Matthews looks like Andy Warhol in that clip. My favorite Matthews moment has to be his 2004 interview with Zell Miller.

Here is the abridged version. The longer version is hilarious.

I would kind of miss him if his head actually explodes.

If you want to see a compendium of the msnbc infighting, Huffington Post has it all. I'm sorry to see it happen, but i'm kind of fascinated and enthralled... kind of the old rubbernecking at a train wreck thing. This former Olbermann fan (he's just a liberal bill-o now) would be happy to see rachel, chuck todd and shuster take over. If you haven't seen scarborough and shuster's brawl it's must see youtubing. (I confess an illogical soft spot for matthews - leg tingling and all).

The points Rachel makes are usually salient, but I think she kind of is forced to toe the MSNBC company line and take on that snarky attitude when she's on MSNBC, which often clouds the salient point she's making.

re: Matthews/Olbermann, we should have a Rosie O'Donnell-on-the-View moment any day.

Though I have to say, Olbermann irritates the sh!t out of me, too.

DO any of you listen to Rachel Maddow on Air America? She's terrific. And I think it's good that she tones it down a bit for MSNBC - much more professional.

Rachel Maddow is outstanding and obviously it shows that her star is rising so quickly.

And I do like Olbermann for his bravery in standing up to the Bushies on the major issues, like torture, FISA, the justice department and the constitution. All the rest of his stuff is for ratings but those end of the night special comments are fantastic.
