Math Tutor Needed for CHS Freshman

My kid is really struggling with Algebra and we haven't found much help within CHS. Just need to get back on track ASAP. I'd appreciate any tutor referrals or other suggestions.

Have you tried Achieve ?

Khan academy (free and online) is supposed to be quite good.

Achieve didn't work for us. We have used Khan a bit but haven't figured out a way to use it to assess gaps in knowledge. Looking for a one-on-one situation at this point.

We done both Achieve and Wyzant (https://www.wyzant.com/), both worked for us. With Wyzant you can review different tutors until you find the one that you think will work for you. The tutor we are using with Wyzant, comes once a week for an hour for $45. I think there is also a program at Columbia where students are tutoring middle school kids. You might ask the guidance office if you can get a senior to tutor your child.

Having two children at Columbia(sophomore and senior), the math teachers can be a real mixed bag.

Regards,

RCH

People have recommended math tutors on the CHS Facebook page. I have no experience with these tutors, but some that were recommended were Amy Wenocur Kamen (a parent you could look for in the CHS directory), Aaron Zuckerman (Aaron@ztutorialservices.com) and Jon Evans (Jon0190@gmail.com)

if you haven't found someone yet, let me know if you would like to consult. https://www.facebook.com/MidtownDirectTutoringService/ or initrade@gmail.com. Michael Steiner

We're using a Wyzant tutor right now for some standardized test prep and he's pretty good. I had contacted Amy Forman of Achieve before regarding tutors and you can get them outside of the program but you pay.
