Huh? Are we banning books again?

Worse - are we really talking sending librarians to jail??

Sorry, I couldn’t work out if this is purely a political issue or a wider issue affecting society at large.

If the current situation is that young readers generally aren’t permitted access to unsuitable (graphic, explicit, violent etc) content, why are people creating a new ruckus? (Well, yeah, public funding) If the current situation allows certain more progressive families to shepherd their growing children through the Ratings minefield as they browse and borrow, why is that a problem?

And why should the librarians bear the brunt of punishment for a family’s decision?? Especially when the profession’s code of practice insists on encouraging ethical open Stanards?
