Tom Morello to join Wrecking Ball Tour in Australia

Since Stevie Van Zandt’s filming commitments to his highly successful television show Lilyhammer will keep him off stage for the upcoming Australian tour dates, Bruce Springsteen has invited Tom Morello to sit in temporarily on guitar. Following the Australian dates, Van Zandt will return to the tour in Oslo, Norway on April 29, 2013.

Tom Morello performed on multiple recordings from ‘Wrecking Ball’ (Jack of All Trades, This Depression), and recently joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band onstage for performances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, at SXSW and for the legendary 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert.

Morello joined the band onstage for about a half dozen songs when I saw them in LA last year. He brings a ton of energy. Should be great shows.

Hop on a plane and come here! The weather will (should) be fairly mild at most of the concert locations ... and, as fas as the cost is concerned, it's only money. You can't take it with you, so why not spend it now? In fact, as you'll already be here, why not make a holiday of it, and go to all four concert locations?

oh oh

Brisbane: Entertainment Center, 14th & 16th March.

Sydney: Allphones Arena, 18th & 20th March.

Melbourne: Rod Laver Arena, 24th, 26th & 27th March. (The Rod Laver Arena is the site of the Australian Tennis Open, being played now).

Macedon, Victoria - About 90 minutes drive from Melbourne, if that: Hanging Rock, 30th and 31st of March. A lovely, picturesque, location. Look for the movie "Picnic at hanging Rock" to get an idea of what the area looks like.

Hey - the Victorian leg: that's around Easter - LONG WEEKEND!!!! :-D You could meet marksierra and other assorted friends (maybe)(no, wait - perhaps not his favoured music) and do a bunch of other fun stuff.

The Brissie leg would be OK to drop past here on the Gold Coast - we'd already heard about this momentous lineup on local radio. (There's BluesFest that might coincide with part of this timing, too)

Yep - just after the Victorian concerts, you've got the Byron Bay Blues Fest:

marksierra, have you SEEN who's in Blues Fest this year?? makes me feel both old and excited!!

HEY NOHERO!! We're getting ZZ Top, too - in March! http://www.liveguide.com.au/Tours/778534/ZZ_Top_Australian_Tour_2013?event_id=826465

"AFTER a ten-year hiatus Bruce Springsteen has returned to Australia to deliver the latest instalment in what really is the greatest rock and roll show on earth. There's no pyrotechnics or sleight of hand, the show is built on the intensity of one man's physical presence and a songbook written over his entire adult life."

I guess some folks in Australia liked it.

He's been all over the radio the past two days - and that's the old-folks' conservative stations!! Raves about his authenticity and great guitar playing, refusal to stick to a playlist (because the people dictate what tghey want to hear), and a fan interview with the woman who danced with him.

NOHERO! Here you go: pix from the Bluesfest!

There was a damning (well, slightly damning) article in today's the Australian, about ageing Baby Boomers who can't let go of their equally ageing faded rockstars:

Ah, well, they may be older, but they still can show 'em how to rock.

Dancing my way around the house this morning!
