Who's Watching "How To Get Away With Murder"?

Yeeeeeeeesssssss. (Said on a long groan.) still not sure why. Annalise has to be the train wreck to end all train wrecks. If all these folks are what lawyers and law students are like, god help us all.

I watched Scandal, too, and I liked it much better than any of last season. Let's push Mellie under a train, please?

I'm so lost! I need a recap show or something. I keep getting confused by the flashbacks and flash forwards - not sure if this is something I have seen before and forgot or if it's something that happens in the future and will be explained. Not sure if I will stick with it this season. I think I would have to rewatch season 1.

Be warned... Season one was super loaded with flashbacks and flash forwards. Drove me nuts.

You've got to really pay attention when you watch this show -- I learned I can't take my eyes off the screen even for a second. That's when you miss the title cards that say "2 weeks earlier" or whatever timeline they're giving you. I agree that it can be confusing, and, although I'm no prude, I really think all the sex scenes are totally unnecessary as far as plot lines are concerned. Frankly, I don't know why I'm hooked, but I am!

That's a Shonda Rimes trademark - Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and now, How to Get Away With Murder.

If you think these shows have too much sex, don't try Game of Thrones, or House of Lies, or quite a few other shows I've become addicted to. Gratuitous sex seems to be on the way to being a requirement for mainstream TV. Which is a bit freaky, IMO.

Thanks for that info. This is my first Shonda Rimes show.

LOL! I don't watch these either!

I'll stick to my usual HGTV shows! HAHAHAHAHA!

Oh, well, hardly any sex on HGTV. oh oh

Have you seen that guy who renovates vacation houses for free? Hummeda hummeda! cheese

Caught up with first episode of this season and I learned who killed Rebecca. Didn't remember a lot of previous season until they showed flashbacks. The flashbacks reminded me who killed the girl (Lyla?) found in the water tank at the beginning of the series. But I forgot who killed Annalise's husband. So much low light and shadows in scenes. The show is over-the-top but entertaining and annoying at the same time. And I like Viola Davis.

I like Viola Davis, too. But I despise her character in this.

If you liked her character, the whole show would fall apart.

I forgot too -- who was it?

It was Wes the Puppy, Waitlist dude, who whacked him with the trophywhen he was trying to kill Rebecca when she was looking for evidence that he was behind Lila's death. At least, that's what I remember. I could definitely be wrong about that.

You're right, and I don't know why I asked that question. What I meant to ask is who killed Lila? Annalise's hubby?

I am a little puzzled by that, too, but I THINK it was Frank, at Sam's behest. Or maybe Sam killed her and asked Frank to clean up the mess, which is why we saw Frank lifting her body up to the water tank. I'm really not sure now.

I forgot about that -- I think you're right! Thanks, Peggy.

I'm also having a lot of trouble not seeing Liza Weil as Paris Gellar after watching Gilmore Girls approximately 500,000 times.

Yes, I agree it was Frank.

I know... I keep having that problem, too, despite the radical hair change. oh oh

Saw the show last night and it was wackier than ever with the ridiculous courtroom dramatics and the unhinged law students and the various sex hookups.  I came away not knowing what happened with the sister/brother clients and the young guy they thought was a serial killer.  Muddled dialog and crazy lighting.  If anyone is still watching, kindly enlighten me.

I agree.  It's very hard to follow and hard to watch (it's shot so darkly I can't see details), which is why I record it and can re-wind when I get confused (which is often).  Everybody on the show is playing each other -- I can't imagine what the storyboards look like trying to keep track of all the plot lines.

According to the DNA test on the young guy, Philip, he is the product of incest (he is supposedly the product of sex between the dead racist aunt, Helena, who was killed, and her only brother, Grant, the dead husband, step father to Caleb and Catherine).  Caleb, the brother, supposedly suddenly finds a gun hidden in the A/C vent, leading us to believe that Catherine, the sister, killed the parents.  However, at the end of the show, we see that Philip has a family painting (by Catherine) in his house, and then we see him get into the car with Catherine, so they at least know each other and are in cahoots with each other?  Who the hell knows -- there's always the cliffhanger episode before the "winter break" next week.  LOL!

Philip and Catherine are definitely in cahoots and implicated in the murder. But Caleb is unlikely to be entirely innocent IMO. I wonder if the aunt knew something and tried to push the blame toward Caleb and Catherine to keep her son in the clear if she could?

I don't love the style of the show, with all the jumping back and forth and gloomy lighting. It's trying to be "film noir" but failing.

And I need to give kudos to @mrincredible who said a long time ago that Wes is Annalise's son.  I'm more and more convinced of it with every episode.

oh yes! At one point she even said to someone that "it's him!" I'm sure she had a baby out of wedlock and gave him up for adoption. And it's Wes.

When Frank asked his DNA lab friend to quickly test certain DNA (and provided a $50K bribe), who's DNA was it?  Phillip? And why is Frank so desperate?

Do we know who killed the racist aunt?

And Frank and Bonnie (both creep me out) have killed for Annalise.  I don't know why they are so devoted to her.

When they wrap up this season, I hope they will not leave everything a mess of confusion.

I wanted to like it, but gave up on it after the first few weeks, too hard to follow and filmed too dark.

It was Philip's DNA, to see whether it matched DNA found at the murder scene. Frank was desperate because they were in the middle of a hearing where Catherine was going to accept a plea deal to spend 10 years in prison. The deal would be final and unappealable unless Frank found the DNA match before she accepted the deal.

We do not know who killed the racist aunt, but the smart money is now on Catherine or Philip or both.

I think Frank and Bonnie are both extremely damaged individuals whom Annalise has helped in the past. We know that Annalise has video footage of Bonnie being sexually molested by her own father, although I have no idea why this video exists or how it came to be in Annalise's hands. But I am not sure what Frank's damage is. I just know that it exists.

This year I sort of know what is going on week by week, but it is still irritating as hell. I think this might be my last season of making the effort.

HA!  Wanna make a bet?

I think Frank's "damage" is that his family is in the mob (could he be a hit man???)  I was surprised to learn he wasn't a lawyer -- he's not a paralegal, so he could just be Annalise's guy who does all the dirty work (makes things "happen").  I was always suspicious of mousy Bonnie -- it's those quiet ones you've got to watch out for.

@mlj:  fear not, they will not wrap anything up next week or at the end of the season.  They've got to keep us guessing (I found they have a Facebook page, so there's other discussions/theories going on there too).

Well, it's true, I said the same thing last season. Why do I keep watching a show that annoys me??? I haven't a clue.
