Who's Watching "How To Get Away With Murder"?

smile Sorry. Tact was never my strong suit, I'm afraid. smile

But if your horrible boss happens to die a suspicious death, I'm looking to you first, Mum.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I love it -- just kidding you.

OK, so I've been watching the reruns over the past several weeks and have really become a fan of the show. There's so much I missed the first time around. And I just loved the brilliance of the last 10 seconds of the "winter season finale" (the repeat which ran last night). Caaaaan't wait for next Thursday.

OH COME ONNNNNNN!!!!! SOMEBODY TELL ME YOU WATCHED TONIGHT'S SEASON-ENDING EPISODE!!!!!

I hate to say it, Mum, but I like the show less and less the longer it goes on. I especially dislike the character of Analise, although there isn't a single person on the show that I do like. LOL

I'm having a bad season with Shonda Rimes. I still like "Grey's Anatomy," even though they seem to be phasing out McDreamy, but I can't stand "Scandal" or "HTGAWM" this year. Makes me sad. I used to really look forward to Thursdays. The two latter shows have gone right over the edge of my ability to suspend my disbelief.

I recorded the season finale and haven't seen it yet. I am drawn to how dark it is and the amazing acting of Viola Davis. I hope they concluded this season with some more clarity of the goings-on and not drag it out for years.

I tried watching Scandal for the first time last season and found it absolutely awful.

I stuck it out and watched most of the season. Found most of it so-so, but I really enjoyed the season finale. It finally made sense of everything and the ending gave you something to look forward to.

Regarding Scandal, I only watch it because I find Mellie, Cyrus and Olivia's wonderfully-evil parents interesting characters. Can't stand the Prez.

Scandal was better in its earlier seasons. Last year and more particularly this year, it's become dreadful.

But what was that business at the very end where they asked each other "did you do it"? I don't think it was Wes. But I do think it was Michaela.

I watched the season finale of HTGAWM. I was surprised.

Exactly how I feel. Watched the finale last night and was really disappointed. I doubt I'll stick around for Season 2. In fact, I was surprised that there even is a second season. Who are we supposed to root for? They're all awful. I'll stick with The Americans, a very well-written show, and one in which Soviet spies and killers are easier to sympathize with than the people in HTGAWM!

Somehow, I feel as if I've already been watching the show for several seasons. It just seems to drag on and on and on, with plot twists I don't even care about any more.

I haven't tried The Americans yet... maybe I'll give that a shot next. Would it be impossible to catch up, Unicorn33? Or should I backtrack and start at the beginning?

@PeggyC: Definitely start from the beginning! It's only in the third season currently, and it's evolving in a number of ways. Very interesting characters and interrelations. In some ways reminiscent of Breaking Bad--i.e., moments where you ask yourself, "wait, I'm rooting for the bad guys!?" The two main actors are so good in their roles, and the show is as much about their relationship as a couple as it is about their spy craft.

I never watched Breaking Bad, but maybe I'll catch up on that someday, too. I used to find myself wondering how I could be rooting for a murderer when we were still enjoying Dexter. smile Of course, that's half the fun of Blacklist, too.

I LOVE HTGAWM! The defining ongoing case, a new case each episode, the Teacher protecting her students at all costs, the desperation of the characters. I'm glued each week. Was also surprised by the ending. Not much comedy relief on the show - very serious and usually dark. Scandal has grown on me and I'm now a fan. I've only watched one season but have no interest in going back to the beginning to catch up. I'm also a fan of The Blacklist, Person of Interest, Game of Thrones, House of Lies, Shameless (a ridiculous show, yet I always watch it), Ray Donovan, ...

I'm a huge fan of Breaking Bad. Was totally hooked on that show, even as the main character got darker and darker. I think it's one of the best series ever on TV.

See, I still can't get over wondering WHY the professor is protecting them. They didn't kill him intentionally... and it was in self-defense. He was trying to kill Rebecca, for heaven's sake. I have never understood why they didn't just call the police, tell them exactly what happened, and let it play out with Analise as their lawyer. It wouldn't have been any more far-fetched than a lot of the subplots they have played out on that show.

Plus, I just cannot picture Analise as a protective person. All the scenes she plays with Wes when she's acting like he's some cross between a son and a lover make me feel like it is just ... false. It doesn't ring true.

I guess I haven't bought the premise from the first episode. LOL Sorry.

Oh, and now that we all know what happened between Sam and Lila, and who the killer was, I find it even less believable. I haven't seen the slightest trace of lovable traits in Lila. Nor did I ever believe that Sam and Lila would ever have gotten married. It's all just... off ... in my book at least.

OK, you probably wish I'd shut up and let people who like the show participate in this thread, so I'll go away. Sorry about the detour!

I don't think it was Wes either, but it's too early for me to guess. I'm sure next season we'll be presented with several people with reasons to do it.

Peggy -- you're being far too rational for a TV show! LOL! Look at all the plot situations on every show where you ask questions because things just aren't logical or make sense. I mean, if every lawyer was so ill prepared as Analise with her clients/witnesses, they'd be out of business. And if I had a nickel for every person who entered their house in the dark and walk through it without putting on a light -- well, I'd be living in Hawaii right now!

I don't like anybody on the show either, but then again, I'm not rooting for anyone either. I like the plot twists and that it keeps me guessing at every turn, wondering just who will get theirs.

BTW, I thought that bit at the end was each of them asking who it was that had let Rebecca out of the basement. But at the VERY end, Frank and Analise were standing in the basement looking at Rebecca's dead body under the stairs, so I guess we know who "let her out."

What I'm still trying to figure out was who Rebecca texted and what the result of that was... then again, maybe THAT's who killed her.

The jury is out as to whether I'll watch again next season. I have my doubts.

OK, we'll let you know what happens! LOL! grin) grin)

Snort. I know if I want to catch up, I can just come to MOL. smile

I finally watched the finale. I want to know why Sam tells Frank, you owe me. I think the plot twists are great, and no, there's no one to root for which is fine by me. I'm struggling with some of the other Shonda shows and while HTGAWM took me awhile, I'm hooked.

I admit I'm an attorney, but even to a 'real person' who has ever watched even one, single, little 42-to-44-minute episode of "Law & Order" this show is PREPOSTEROUS!!! That said, I've watched every episode because I want to know where it goes. But anyone who thinks even ONE SECOND of this show is legally/ethically realistic/permissible needs to know what it's most definitely NOT!! I've never seen a 'legal drama' that is less rooted in the law. UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY PREPOSTEROUS, irrespective of entertainment value.

You mean like Perry Mason preposterous? oh oh

I don't think anybody is watching this show for the legal aspects -- other than "how to get away with murder"! There isn't a writer around who can ever accurately depict lawyers practicing law.

I'm not a lawyer, although I was a legal secretary for eight years, and the show has struck me the same way as you, exmaple. Beyond absurd.
