Who's Watching "How To Get Away With Murder"?

None of my friends are watching it and I would love to talk with someone who is also watching. Anybody?

I have been watching. Over the top, but entertaining.

Yea, there are things that really annoy me -- like the tight, sleeveless (lots of skin showing) dresses in court -- which would never be allowed. Also all the sex scenes -- a bit gratuitous for me (I record the shows, so I just fast forward them). So who do you think killed Sam (no spoilers here -- everybody knows SOMEBODY killed him)?

This is no spoiler because I do not know for certain. I think that Michaela Pratt killed Sam, because it appears that the Lady Justice Trophy is the murder weapon. (In the fast forward scenes, it is Michaela who is shown inconsolable and besides herself.) Michaela swiped the trophy out of Asher Millstone's apartment. She thought she deserved it because of her work in helping to crack the murdered nanny (Elke) case. But who knows what turn it will take? I'm liking HTGAWM because of its twists and turns; red herrings. It's one reason why I'm a big fan of the various British produced mystery series: Inspector George Gently, Midsomer Murders, Father John, Scott & Bailey. Inspector Gently is the tops.

That's interesting and makes sense in that regard -- but the other students don't like her and the killer is somebody they would risk covering up for. But didn't Rebecca confess to Wes last week that she killed him, or was I hallucinating?

It could be Rebecca. Because now I'm thinking that the murder scene appears to be Annalise's law office/home. The Rebecca character is doing her best to set up Sam for the murder of Lila Stanguard so that Rebecca can be freed from suspicion of killing Lila.

I just went to the website and they don't even have the Sam character in the cast listing! But Bonnie is still listed in the cast, so I wonder if she's really fired?

And what about when Wes was cleaning the blood off Rebecca last week and she said he would have killed her if she didn't kill him? Too many possibilities

I watched the first episode and gave up. I thought it was awful even though the cast was great. My wife watched a couple more and gave up. We usually like lawyer shows and we are both lawyers.

I agree, I stopped watching after the second episode. But then I saw Viola Davis on Ellen and they were talking about the show plots and I went to On Demand and caught up -- the binge watch got me hooked! Yes, there is a lot of "law" stuff (I, too have a legal background) that isn't right (but then again, that's Hollywood), but that's not why I'm watching it -- more as a soap with "law" being second or third.

Yes, that's what I remember. But then again, they could be trying to throw us off!

Anyone watch last night? Thoughts?

NO!!!!! And I went to watch it On Demand this morning and it's not there yet. I'm off to the website now in hopes that the whole episode is there. Mums the word for now! LOL!

It was very interesting........once again, that last 30 seconds...WTF?

OK. Well, you never quite know if what they show you is what happened totally and in a certain time frame. As far as the last 30 seconds, when exactly did he go back to the house to retrieve the trophy when none of the other students were there? Did they all leave first and Wes returned alone to retrieve the trophy and at that point Annalise told him how to get rid of Sam's body (which he isn't sharing with the other students)?

My prediction: Annalise killed the girl, tried to frame Sam for it, gave herself an alibi by leaving the voice mail message for Sam after she returned home and found Sam's body, and called the woman associate so she could "take charge" of the police investigation.

What do you think?

hmmm, I am not sure who killed the girl. I thought the same about Annalise leaving the voice message for Sam. I am wondering what's up with Wes. And why is he so crazy about Rebecca. And then there is Bonnie who is a bit of a weirdo. Altogether a confusing finale.

Tom Verica (Sam) was on Jimmy Kimmel. He is executive producer of Scandal and I think a director too.

Surprise twist ending.........My thoughts
Wes went back to the house after he took Rebecca to a motel. Annalise had come home and found the body. Then the plotted --the students got rid of it and Annalise made all the calls. By Sam "disappearing" he looks guilty, and he will never be found so they won't have his DNA to match to the fetus.

Anyone know if they found Michaela's engagement ring? Maybe I missed that.

I think they may have...when they went through all the garbage

No, I'm sure they did not find her engagement ring -- which is what I think will "get" them in the end. Someone will find it somewhere. Unless they get away with murder.....LOL! I think your guesses are right -- we'll see in January!

And when will they reveal the relationship between Annalise and Wes?

And maybe Sam.

Oedipus anyone?

We started with episode 2 and watched through to the most recent. Then we caught the pilot on DVR. I enjoy the show but we haven't found any character we actually like as a person!

Exactly -- and I wonder why I can't wait to watch each episode. Maybe it's because I want to solve the puzzle? I don't know, but, yes, I wondered too about Annalise and Wes -- why was he accepted to the law school at the very last minute. Do you really think he's her long lost son? I don't think she was married to Sam long enough to have a 22 year old son -- he did say he was married to someone else when she became the "other woman".

Which is why she disappeared to have her and Sam's child out of the country. He was still married.

If I am right about this, do I win something?

Oh, I missed her disappearing. When was this? I find I miss a lot what with all the going back and forth: 6 months ago, 8 months ago, present time, 2 weeks ago. Geesh! It's tough for the addle-brained! grin

ETA: If you guessed right/win, you get a slab of ribs.

In this day and age, why would Annalise and Sam continue to keep secret a child born decades ago? Not likely that Sam's ex would care about it all these years later.

EVERYONE DIES!!!!

Just kidding. I watched the pilot and gave up. Too involved and too much going on.

Regarding Sam's DNA, it's all over the house. And Annalise surely wants to know for certain whether Sam killed the girl? I don't blame her for helping the students cover up Sam's death, particularly since it was Wes who struck the final blow, and he knows things about Annalise and about Sam that would be extremely painful for her. I think they just don't want any trail that leads back to the students.

FWIW, I never did believe they were going to be able to keep it from Annalise. For god's sake, there was a missing rug, and presumably traces of blood all over that room that any good forensic team would find.

What I really don't get is why the students don't just tell the truth. They were all there, they all know that Sam was trying to kill Rebecca and that it was Wes who hit him with the trophy. Under the circumstances, I can't see a jury convicting Wes of anything more than manslaughter, with a possible self-defense claim thrown in. So I'm not really sure why they were all so determined to get rid of the body. Most of the other students don't even LIKE "Waitlist," so why are they helping hide the fact that he killed Sam? It doesn't quite add up for me.

I hate Annalise's character. I don't like anyone in the show, but I really detest her. She's creepy and weird and (for a female lawyer) incredibly weak. I find not a single sympathetic trait in her.

I made up the part about her disappearing, I surmise that it will be revealed in a future episode. Wes mentions that he was born in Haiti, came to the US while a young child and his mom died when he was 12.

I like ribs.

Tell us how you REALLY feel Peggy! LOLLOLLOLLOL! I agree with everything you said. Since I haven't been working, I've really gotten hooked on all those forensic files/murder mystery shows (I took forensic science in college and I love how I remember doing a lot of the things they do on the shows). And while I watch those shows, I say the same thing you did: if you killed someone by accident, why try to hide it/run away from it? You'll never get away with it, and when they do get you, you will go through much worse than if you copped to it in the first place. But then again, never having murdered anyone (so far) in my life (despite what I've told you all about my horrible boss), I don't know how I'd react.

@mrincredible: we've discussed my spare ribs in the past.....I do remember your fondness for them. ;-)

smile Sorry. Tact was never my strong suit, I'm afraid. smile

But if your horrible boss happens to die a suspicious death, I'm looking to you first, Mum.
