Which restaurants are still open (SOMA only please)

New specials at Bunny’s this weekend!

Also, with curbside pickup and delivery being offered, all orders can be made via the phone and be totally contactless.  Just pay over the phone with a credit card and your food can get left on your porch or put into your trunk.

Stay safe everyone!

Go inside and wait with people, pay with a credit card by swiping it a foot in front of the register and being handed the receipt to sign.

This was what I had to do at lunch time yesterday. It was kind of busy so I kept going back outside to wait.

While I was paying, another customer came in and stood right behind me. The woman at the register asked him to step away.

Not going back unless this changes.

Does anyone know if Sabatinos is still open?  I'm getting a Mailbox is full message when I call.

I got through...phew.   IMO, this is the best pizza in our towns.

I’ve been informed that takeout tonight *is* happening.

What pie do you like best?

We tried it when it first opened and I didn’t love the sauce, but definitely am open!

I like the pan pie(Zia Mimmas).  We usually get a couple of toppings on that.  We get other things as well, but that is usually the anchor of the order.

Interesting that you don't like the sauce. It's possible it's just a matter of taste...I really love their pizza.  The regular pies as well.

Roman Gourmet is our standard.

Sylvio ( boccone) had to be out of his space by 3/31/2020.  he was set to open in millburn in a smaller space.  I am not sure if he has.  he might have the same phone number.

Boccone is doing curbside pick-up. He wasn't able to get a mover and is still in SO. I think they open at 3:00 pm. Try this menu. The telephone no. is 973-378-9222 - don't use the telephone no. on the menu.

Thank you for supporting salvage cafe.

We ordered breakfast from Jackie & Sons yesterday.  Their online ordering is wonderful - you can personalize your pancakes, sandwich, etc. easily.  When I went to pick-up there was a box of gloves outside the door.  Inside were bags being handled by staff properly masked and gloved.

Plus the food was great - pancakes, egg sandwich, and "avocado" toast.  As my husband pointed out as he happily wolfed it down, it looked and tasted like guacamole.  I'm partial to the hipster California style with slices of avocado only slightly mashed so I'll stick to the delicious blueberry pancakes.

Next time I'll be more organized and order some groceries the day before - fruit, bread, milk, etc.

As a practical matter, I'm not sure any commercial tenant is evictable these days unless a lease gives the landlord a right of self help to enter, change locks etc.    The courts have ground to a virtual halt and even if you could, why would you evict unless you could show the place to  new tenant and actually get one to sign a lease.  Who's doing that these days?  I think tenants and landlords are stuck with each other in the short run just like other debtor/creditors are.  People will have to muddle through, sharing the pain.

That is illegal in New Jersey. Self-help is illegal and any lease clause authorizing it is illegal.

@STANV and bub - I think you migrated from a different thread.

I don't think this is true re commercial leases. It's not illegal if the lease is clear about the right.  It might be risky to do if you're the landlord, and normally landlords will just bring quick dispossess actions, but its not illegal.

I was responding to the above post about the Boccone guy having to leave his space by 3/31.

Has anyone tried Pickett's?

They just sent out an email and the online menu looks good.

We liked Picketts before this event and that menu looks much more appealing than the one from a few weeks ago.

 Will order this weekend!

Does anyone know what's going on with Cactus Charly's?  I tried calling a few times and no one answered.  When I went to order online through GrubHub, there was a message that online ordering wasn't an option.  Are they still open?

Has anyone seen this week’s Bistro D’Azur menu? (S0) I dare the shellfish fans among you to read it and not have your mouths water. Sounds pretty amazing.

We're big fans. I challenge you to find a bacon egg and cheese sammich with more bacon.

Jackie’s is great, and whereas other places I’ve observed (anecdotally) to be maybe struggling, they really seem to have nailed doing business amid a pandemic - ez online ordering, good walk-in/pickup system inside, same quality product. Every time I’ve been in there recently there are like 8-10 employees hustling/bustling. It’s nice to see.

I ordered Reservoir yesterday for pickup.  Couldn't believe several people completely cut the line and didn't care one iota about safe distancing.  I think they needed one extra person outside with a walkie talkie to control the line/orders.

At Verjus we waited outside in our car - called to let them know we were there - then they brought it out to the car when it was ready.  And it was delicious!

How are other take out places handling things?

We were all ready to order from Freetown but the phone just rang and rang. Anyone know what’s up?

Jim, I just noticed on the Springfield Avenue website that it currently lists Freetown as open Wednesdays-Saturdays. The date of your comment appears to have been a Tuesday, so maybe that was it.

Bill & Harry are finally back! They were pretty busy and saw a lot of orders waiting to be picked up.

I may have splurged a bit... >.<

Agreed - hubby's breakfast sandwich this morning had massive amounts of bacon and avocado.  I bartered some of my amazing blueberry pancakes for a few bites.  Delicious!

The pancakes also had massive amounts of blueberries.

I suspect we will be there at least once a week!

Where can you get some decent sushi in or near SOMA?
