Seriously though, walking around the duck pond in Maplewood I recall seeing a few cell phones of various ages (some still shiny, some turning green with algae) and I’m guessing a few other odds and ends, soda bottles perhaps

According to then Mayor Grasmere a car WAS found in the adjacent river during an Earth Day river cleaning many years ago. Therefore, it would not be unheard of for a car to be found in the duck pond now.

How deep is that pond?
Based on the time my dog fell into it, about 18 inches around the edge.

It's very shallow.
Has it been dredged in recent memory?
How hard would it be to do this? We clean the river every year, can't we do the same with the pond?

I overheard a discussion today about a pond in Montclair that was drained. This makes me wonder what we would find if the Memorial Park duck pond was drained. Perhaps Eric B, already knows.
