Water Main break: plan on one soon

Maplewood Village will also gladly accept the Roman Structure as a companion piece for the new Plaza/coffee shop to be built in front of our latest Village Structure.  If no one ever figures out a way allow Kings back and forth access with the vehicles they need to park and unload..............we will forgo the cafe provided the Roman water structure and Tau both come visit us for a  long time.

We like tall and short structures located close together.

A pot hole developed overnight.  I'd say it is 14 inches, 3 to 4 inches deep, flowing water.  It is Saturday.  Be careful, if you drive this way, have a plan.

If any business owners in the vicinity have basements with water seeping in due to this...be forewarned, your insurance will not cover any damage you suffer.  Take steps to get your stuff off the floor or have your own pumps ready.

Good point, duh.....I just checked and I have a trickle started.

I notified Dunkin and Hot Bagels to keep an eye out and to store water for Monday's business.

Hm. If they have to shut off that main to repair it, does anyone know what parts of town are affected?  I want to make sure we have a supply if needed and take care of showers before 8 on Monday.

how about one like this

I'd absolutely be down for that!!

Pot holes are holding up and have not spread.  I have noted that the gauge on my street side water pressure has dropped by 8 Psi.

Let the digging begin.

cross fingers! They really left it a little late didn't they? When will the powers that be learn that infrastructure repairs are better done sooner rather than later?

Everyone is assuming that the crews were not fixing other leaks, and that this is all that they have on their plate.  Maybe they moved us up past others already.

Also, with our aging infrastructure, I suspect that we sometimes don't know what needs repairing until it starts to leak...

Ok, and all is good.  The digging has started.

I am hearing from a guy that says he first saw and reported the leak in early April.

So far the water is still on and none of the coffee shops or food places that I know of have received any notice that water may go out. (and they would have to close due to Health codes)  so that is good.

SOConnect says that the work has been completed.

Not correct.  Currently two guys are in a hole up to their shoulders digging and pumping water and mud out of the hole.

I would say that they are not finished.  In progress, yes, finished, no.

Are you saying that government is lying to us using over-priced software?

DETAILSDescription

Leak coming from man hole in the street and a crack in pavement

It says "LeakCompleted" not "RepairCompleted." :sarcasm emoticon:

We are in the process of modifying how SOConnect handles "Water" related issues.  The new process flow (Utility - Water) includes as aprt of the process flow immediate e:mail notification to East Orange Water personnel as well as our management team.  EOWater will have the responsibility to respond providing status and closing out of issues.

This will give us positive tracking of reported events and a greater understanding of service levels.

Now THAT makes me feel a lot better... the lame duck water company that got caught trying to poison us will have the responsibility to update us on how they're handling water-related issues...

Two years ago EOWC workers told a business owner on Valley Street that it was going to take a while to fix a break in the line in front of his building because EOWC could not find the maps of the underground turn-off valves. This meant that the crew had to dig "guess" holes where valves would most likely be located. It took more than 3 days to stop the leak. If this is correct, it also means that EOWC has not been doing the necessary periodic turning of the valves to keep them from locking in position.

All done for the day.  Hole in the middle of the street and over to the Tratt-KALM building and a metal plate for the night.

Tomorrow, following leaks and digging toward BOA, Hot Bagels Abroad and The UPS Store Building.

Dat is all for now folks!!!

I hate those metal plates... Grrrr!
