Geez, that's a little too close for comfort

About a third of the votes for McKeon and Jasey were from Maplewood and South Orange voters, according to a Facebook post I saw.

That's not close. It's almost 4000 more votes for Jasey than Rim

But more than 12,00 of our fellow voters here in blue state New Jersey went for "Q". THAT is scary!

Yes but percentage-wise, not that far apart. Not compared to what I would have expected in our area, anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, "our area" (district 27) includes much of Essex County but also extends west into Chatham and Harding Township which lean much more conservative.

Yes, and since the last election, more conservative Morris county areas were added to the district which had raised concerns. I think that, combined with interest in the BOE election, brought out a lot of votes in our towns.

I voted the Dem party line but I threw up in my mouth a little as I pushed the button for Jasey. In a legislature that operates like a herd of lemmings, her positions have been particularly uninformed. Her bill to ban muskets in the wake of Sandy Hook threatened to spawn a farce from a tragedy and was a stunning example of the sort of mushy headed grandstanding that the NRA so easily turns into fund raising gold.

That and the endless robocalls.....

Ah, I didn't realize that. All the more reason getting out the vote locally was important. And I imagine the trend continued that it was pretty low compared to the population of eligible voters.
