Trump Throws Sessions Under the Bus, and Everything Else You Needed to Know About Trump's Lack of Character

If Sessions has not yet resigned he has no self-respect.

Why do they stay? Seriously. Were they promised plush jobs at conservative think tanks after four years? Do they know they are unemployable now that they've sold their souls? What's the motivation?

Sessions has always dreamed of rolling back progressive policies in the justice department.  Trump has given him the opportunity to do it, and he is.  The best part is that Sessions is soulless, so it is costing him nothing.

Well don't we want Sessions to stay now?  If Sessions goes for whatever reason won't Trump replace hi. With a puppet and fire Mueller?  I understand that course of action would shake things up and there could be consequences, but that is never a deterrent for this President.

yes, we're in a wonderful state where retaining Sessions might be the preferred course.

Republicans will never be forgiven for this. Never.

Didn't Sessions just bring civil forfeiture back?  Aren't the Trumps even a little worried?

Giuliani is being considered to replace "beleaguered" Sessions.

As a commentator in the Boston Globe said, what Trump said amounts to, "If I had known he wouldn't obstruct justice for my sake, I wouldn't have hired him."

I really hope Sessions sticks around. I don't particularly care for him, I mean he had a woman arrested, tried and convicted for laughing at him. But if it will stick it to DT, I hope he drags it out. If only to unhinge him some more. This is one of those things that will get worse before it gets better.

And if Sessions leaves, Trump can name a new AG who won;t have to be recused for this whole Russia thing and then will fire Mueller.  Like a 3Dgame of chess this is!

If Sessions leaves, Trump could make a recess appointment of an Attorney General during the August recess who would serve until the end of the next Senate session, which could be early January. This person would have the authority to fire Mueller.

It's going to be a busy August.

I would imagine some Congressional Democrats have been wondering out loud, maybe even discussing, what they will do and how the will deal with the constitutional crisis created by Trump's firing of Mueller.

What's there to discuss? They can't do anything.

This is way worse than Nixon – yet all indications are that the moral rot of the Republican Party now runs so deep that the constitutional answer to a rogue president is null and void.

Buckle up. I am even hearing from some (knowledgeable) corners that we should fill our freezers. Political crises lead to economic crises lead to shortages.

Well, what's been published here in the last 90 mins, covering the Jamboree speech and the preceding tweets, is certainly not favourable and is definitely questioning whether your President knows what's suitable subject matter for bright young minds. (And it's written by a variety of journos and bloggers, not the G20 journo you're probably thinking of)

It's going to be a busy August:

- Scaramucci replaces Preibus

-Sessions is fired

-Giuliani is appointed Attorney General in a recess appointment

-Giuliani fires Mueller

-Rexit

Giuliani's name was floated in a discussion last night but as he was part of the campaign it might lead to the same need for recusal. As well someone mentioned our fearless leader Chris.

Just because Congress mostly leaves town does not mean they are in recess. The Supreme Court recently (in response to a challenge to Obama recess appointments) tightened the definition of when Congress is in recess to essentially when they officially say they are in recess.

Speaking about Trump's lack of character...he has an audience of 35K boy scouts and laces his speech with profanity and petty jabs at Obama, Clinton and Obamacare. He demonstrated precisely the characteristics unbecoming of a boy scout. What a sad display.

And they wildly cheered him on. Even sadder.

He used the applause machine from Face In The Crowd.

Trump should read about Edwin Stanton. Oh right, he can't.

The movie "Pretty Woman" glorified prostitution. The image above looks like more like the reality.

This is quite a showdown between Trump and Sessions. A lot of conservatives are rallying behind Sessions.

Same thing when Trump fired Comey and we all lined up behind Comey. It's cognitive whiplash. My poor brain can't keep up.
