Trump's Worst Week since Last Week

This opinion column by Rick Wilson, a Republican strategist, is well worth the read for his breathtaking, belly-punching one sentence description of Steve Bannon in paragraph 13.  BTW, since the appointment of retired USMC Four-Star General John F. Kelly as the new Chief of Staff, I have noticed an almost immediate cease fire of Trump's usual invective-filled Twitter bombs.  His tweets have become sit-up-straight business professional.  Kelly has also informed West Wing staffers that he wants them in the office earlier.

With the news that special counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury to investigate Russia’s election-tampering and the Trump campaign’s role in it, Thursday was the single worst day in the single worst week of the Trump presidency.

yes, para 13 is quite the turn of phrase. I like the latter description personally. I'd like to use it, but I can't imagine hating anyone so much that I could.

With the rise of Kelly, we’re also subject to another round of rumors that future liver-transplant waiting-list member and hobo sh!tlord Steve Bannon may flee the White House, his dreams of an alt-reich populist movement dashed on the rocks of Trump’s failures.

It's classic Rick Wilson. It also reminded me that I haven't seen him on MSNBC lately. His delivery is always great. Hope he shows up again.

ok everybody. pull out your favorite quotes!

As the cherry on the fecal sundae of Trump’s bad week...

"Alexa, order more schadenfreude."

And I can't wait to find an opportunity to use the word "beclowned."

Of course the Bannon description was poetry.

From 'beclowned' to 'bunch of clowns', Bannon's interview (where it seems he didn't realize he was being interviewed):

""Ethno-nationalism -- it's losers. It's a fringe element. I think the media plays it up too much, and we gotta help crush it, you know, uh, help crush it more. These guys are a collection of clowns,"

Then it seems like Bannon couldn't help but brag about what a spectacular strategist he is by indicating to the interviewer that his strategy is basically encouraging the country to fight amongst itself, ignoring the risk of destroying the country from within, just so that the Republicans can win elections:

"The Democrats -- the longer they talk about identity politics, I got 'em. I want them to talk about racism every day," Bannon said to Kuttner. "If the left is focused on race and identity, and we go with economic nationalism, we can crush the Democrats."

Those are the stunningly irresponsible words of a man willing to shrug off the possible ramifications of growing racial division -- divisions that cost a young woman her life -- in order to reap political advantage."

The strategy did garner 63 million votes. While I abhor everything he stands for, economic security is a campaign platform that resonates.

I probably should have posted the end of the article:

Democrats should remind Americans that it is they who are able to simultaneously fight against intolerance and develop policies that resonate with working-class households. It's the best way to avoid falling into Bannon's trap.

Sooner, rather than later.

"Why did so many voters who backed Barack Obama in 2012 switch to Donald Trump four years later, and what can be done to win them back?

One finding from the polling stands out: A shockingly large percentage of these Obama-Trump voters said Democrats’ economic policies will favor the wealthy — twice the percentage that said the same about Trump."

Gotta go with either;

"fired with barely a reach-around.

or

future liver-transplant waiting-list member and hobo shitlord Steve Bannon

Where are Eric and Don Jr? Haven't heard from them lately. This Virginia coverage would've have them up in arms. "Nobody loves peace more than my dad, I say".
