To the woman I watched cut the tetherball down this morning at The Jefferson Playground archived

Wait. I get it now. LOL!

Oh, only now did I get it.

Are you saying it couldn't have been a robot? Or a zombie?

Why in the world would someone do that?

Some people do it involuntarily while laughing or crying. Some do it to mimic cute little pigs. Some do it while in close proximity to that ole nose candy. Lots of reasons really.

It's so odd, it almost sounds like performance art.

Maybe she just grew tired of hearing the two boys playing tetherball on Saturday afternoon drop F-bombs every time they hit the ball for 2 hours.

Wait -- really?

It seems to take a rather low maturity level to think the solution is to ruin it for everyone, rather than to deal with the issue at hand.

I m not saying it was right , just offering a possible motive.

That's the point: that someone did something totally unjustifiable, from any angle you look it.

actually I think it was justifiable , after hearing the behavior of these 2 young men for 2 hours, in the presence of families and small children.

I think you should probably just put the ball back now.

didn't take it. Just exploring the full situation.

If it was a court of Law I would rule in favor of Justifiable Tethercide.

A motive for vandalizing my kid's school's playground. Very nice.

And as if people who bought houses near the school didn't know they were going to be living near a school... sorry, go someplace else in your bid for sympathy, you won't get any here.

The school gets vandalized every weekend and I don't see you out there helping to clean it up, so ease back on the crystal shattering self righteousness. I'm not saying it was right, just funny the shrill reaction that resulted from that.

I live near there and happen to go to the playground almost daily with my daughter. As far as I know, there has not been a tetherball attached to the tetherball pole for at least the past two years. However it ended up there, I have no idea, but it seems to have been temporary.

Also Justifiable Tethercide will be playing the 2:30 Saturday slot at MaplewoodStock.

I really hope it's fronted by 2 boys rocking out and dropping f-bombs for 2 hours.

You don't see me helping to clean it up? Are you implying that you are someone who knows me IRL, taking shots at me from behind the safety of your MOL user name? I find that rather unsettling, actually.

Whether you know me IRL or not, and whether I help clean up the playground or not (do you?), I have every right in the world to be upset about (possible) vandals on my child's school playground. You have no right whatsoever to even approach an attempt to justify it. Maybe you know more about the incident than you're letting on?

No I don't know you, and I am happy to share my name with you if you PM me. I was making a joke. You became shrill. If preventing vandalism of the school is so important to you ( as it is to me) be proactive instead of making noise on a message board. I (along with my neighbors) clean the schoolyard every weekend morning ( and sometimes during the week). Have a sense of humor . I wrote Justifiable Tethercide for goodness sake , how can you take anything seriously after those words.

People often take action IN ADDITION to posting on a message board (you did!) so I think that potshot was undeserved...

But if you care so much about the schoolyard that you actually take part in cleaning it, for which I thank you sincerely, how can you joke about somebody (possibly) vandalizing it? To me, as a parent of a kid who goes to that school, it feels almost like a personal assault.

I cant anymore. I'm sorry. I wont do it again.

While the situation isn't funny, this surely was.

Be nice to catch the caucasian with the smoking ball.

I acknowledge that the Justifiable Tethercide was clever in its way, taken out of the context of the disturbing act of cutting down the Jefferson tetherball... this whole story is just weird, what with the testimonials about there being no tetherball there for an extended period.
