The Stuffed Shirt archived

Just saw this on the South Orange Chamber's Facebook page. Let the speculation begin! oh oh (Or does anyone actually know what's going in?)

Rumor Central: The Stuffed Shirt (bar) which has been closed for quite some time here in town has been sold and will soon undergo renovations to prepare for a grand RE-opening under a new TBD name.

I have heard the same rumor... oh oh

Can we speculate?

I'm going with Kryans Steak and Lager House.

Either one would work just fine.

Where was the Stuffed Shirt?

To those that don't know, The Stuffed Shirt was THE place to be in the 80's & 90's. It's resurrection would be wonderful.

Not if it's full of nostalgic 40 and 50 year olds, it won't.

And to whomever is opening this fine establishment, please allow a performance space for live music! grin

Then you stay out!

My cooler-than-cool high school girl friend had a birthday party at Stuft Shirt, probably circa 1985... I didn't have my license yet and my older brother had to drive me out from Bayonne. Back then, South Orange was for me a place I vaguely remembered from when my grandparents had lived there when I was a little girl. Never dreamed I would live here myself someday. Bring back Stuft Shirt!

The burgers....juicy thick flame broiled burgers!!!!

And the scene was the best. That huge circular bar...the back lounge. A thousand loves were dreamed of, consummated, and lost there...usually in the same night.

And Ryans Place, across the street on South Orange Ave, for a post-Shirt drink.

or, The Beef and Ale House, before Cryan ruined it's atmosphere!!

It was near, perhaps right next to, Toro Loco in South Orange.

See if you can spot Joseph Cryan making a cameo appearance. :-D

My parents used to take us to lunch there, in fact I was just talking about it to my mother. They had the best tuna melts ever.
