The future of the Democratic party - this is where it is heading

Blasting “greedy Jewish landlords” for their “ethnic cleansing” of black and Hispanic renters, Thomas Lopez-Pierre is mounting a bid for New York City Council....

...“Jewish Landlords … are at the forefront of ethnic cleansing/pushing Black/Hispanic tenants out of their apartments,” Lopez-Pierre writes on his Web site.

He will face district incumbent Mark Levine in this fall’s Democratic primary, which is decisive in choosing who will occupy the seat. Lopez-Pierre is currently angling to raise enough money to secure $100,000 in matching funds from New York City, and he claims to have raised more than half the necessary amount.

The posts of one democrat running for NYC Council does not define the "Future of the democratic party".

It didn't take long to find news stories that relate how this guy has run before (unsuccessfully), has raised less than $12,000 (so not "more than half"), and has been sharply rebuked by prominent elected Democrats.

Hardly evidence of "the future of the Democratic party or "where it is heading".

You don't have to drag up bogus stuff for reasons to dislike the Democratic party. Try again. Try something that matters and is representative. It's not hard.

I was struck during the last election cycle by how many liberal, pro-Bernie voters didn't give a damn about the Democratic party. To them, both parties were/are the same. Bernie or nothing. I worry about that. Rather than party affiliations, we'll end up with cult-of-personality politics. Party is an not out-moded paradigm and this all makes me nervous. The parties are NOT the same. There are profound, fundamental and critical differences that [young] people need to understand and acknowledge. Otherwise Democrats will continue to lose.

This worries me about the direction of the Democratic Party. When we start to equivocate on fundamental progressive issues like women's health and choice, then there's very little difference (in my mind) between the two parties.

I agree - and the Democrats biggest problem is not being able to come up with the simple talking points necessary to make inroads into the voting public - the way Republicans have been doing for decades.

What. Like the Cult of Hillary, 2016 cheese ?

The Democratic Party is in crisis, but not because of some guy running in New York. There is a big split between the establishment dems who are too influenced by their donors and the Progressives, who want the Democrats to return to their roots as a party of the people, like FDR (New Deal).  The establishement Dems were wiped out in the last election, but seem reluctant to change course and prefer to lose than to let a Progressive win.

Two wrongs do not make a right. But yes the Jews are basically screwed. As usual.

A small-time NYC Dem is a far cry from the POTUS and his advisors.

The Democrats came close to having an antisemite as party chairman and does have that antisemite as vice chairman.

He's not an anti-semite but this tit for tat won't get us very far, especially when all you can fall back on is false equivalency. (Trump, Bannon and Gorka = Ellison?)
