The ex-Mrs. Gingrich archived

Geez. why do I have the role of appearing to defend Gingrich?

I think Newt needs to self-deportate.

Well, I don't know a few million. And, I don't think there is any defending Newt's sexual charisma ( or complete lack thereof).

Anyway, I digress. Surely we can think of hundreds of betters reasons to hate Newt!

Fortunately, for those sick at the thought of doing it with Newt, he has taken a pledge to fidelity, on 12/13/11:

Newt Gingrich Pledges Fidelity To "Fidelity Pledge" In Lengthy Letter. 12/13/11 08:27 AM ET.

"When influential Iowa social conservative Bob Vander Plaats rolled out the Family Leader's "Marriage Vow" pledge, it was enough for most of the 2012 GOP field to just sign it (in the case of Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry) or not (Mitt Romney's campaign said the pledge "contained references and provisions that were undignified and inappropriate for a presidential campaign," while Jon Huntsman isn't signing anybody's pledges).

"But in the case of Newt Gingrich, these options weren't enough, and so today the Family Leader [sent] out a press release that contains some sort of "signing statement" from Gingrich. The result?..."I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others"

Correction of the Day:

"An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated whom Newt Gingrich is said to have asked for an "open marriage." It was an ex-wife, not his current wife," - the NYT.

The copy editors must have been totally cracking up when they wrote that.
