The Bitching Thread

He does this all the time so it wasn't a surprise, but she's at the age where she notices it now. He almost bailed on going to the Sussex County Fair with us, but she made the biggest disappointed-but-trying-to-be-brave face when he said he wasn't going, so he came. Not totally a lost cause. My daughter is going to be a good Italian mother, that's for sure. She's got the guilt trip face down pat.

But he was still on his phone the whole time.

Scheduled a delivery yesterday from the Home Depot for between 12-5 and I get a call at 9am telling me they are outside so I rush over and no one is there, wrong address. Not only did the dip***** at the contractors desk spell my name wrong right off my business card but she typed in 20 Prospect Street instead of 220. Who trains these people.

metalart, you remind me of a contractor who thought he emailed us an estimate. When I called, he didn't understand why I was upset that it still hadn't arrived. It turned out he approximated our email address. Well, gee, you have to spell the address exactly? Kinda like phone numbers? You can't just take a stab at them?

The address was written on a piece of paper, the same paper I showed the driver this morning

When I lived in the Netherlands I tried paying a credit card, but I wasn't getting any of the bills. The 800 numbers didn't work from Europe. The number on the back of an old bill wasn't working. I gave up. When I came back to the US, I started getting threatening letters that they were going to take everything I owned. I said, "but you never billed me, and your phone doesn't work. What address do you have for me? She said: "oh!" the address she had for me was:

Copihue's real name
Liesveldsesteeg 23
5306 Brakel The Netherlands
Old Bridge NJ 08857-3353

ps the account was shortly thereafter taken over by another servicer

Why are NJ residents incapable of putting their shopping carts in a cart corral, even if it's just two or three parking spaces away? Seriously! Go to TJs or Target on a busy day and see carts scattered everywhere, even blocking handicap parking spaces.

OMG YES! I used to work retail, and my car became so dinged up because of lazy so-and-sos leaving their carts to roam free and smash into my vehicle. The other week I saw a woman push a cart to a random place and carry her bags to her car. Her car was closer to a cart corral than it was to the random location she abandoned her cart at; it made no friggen' sense! She was just making more work for everyone; so, so stupid.

This is not limited to just NJ; IL also has its share of improperly corralled carts. ;-)

I was at Target in Vauxhall yesterday and someone left and old baby walker right in the parking lot. I'm guessing they purchased a new one and felt it was there god given right to let someone else throw the old one away for them. You can't blame this one on lazy teenagers.

Ha! I love how, when having a discussion with someone they call me a "stupid child" and storm off.
(I can almost imagine them stomping their feet & slamming the door)
oh oh

Ps not really bitching.... Actually, just laughing.

I used to get upset with global warming deniers. With proof right in front of them, they refused to even consider that such a thing is happening. It is happening. Every day poor souls in this country are getting flooded out or burned out of their homes, not to mention the untold suffering this has triggered in other parts of the globe. I still marvel at the fact that the Earth is at a precise distance from the Sun to support this life. Any deviation one way or the other would be catastrophic. By the same token, the deviation in the atmosphere that protects Earth is disaster. The disaster that is happening right now.

People who let their dogs drink directly from water fountains. Dogs lick any and all parts of their anatomy and eat just about any variety of excrement they get their faces near. Then you have your 80 pound canine with a front mounted fecal bacteria delivery system lap up water from the same fountain little kids drink from?

That's disgusting and inconsiderate in the extreme.

Dog mouths are no more germ-infested than human mouths. Of course, that contradicts conventional wisdom, but hey, there you go.

I absolutely hate people that take grocery carts from the store, push them home, unload them and leave them on the curb. We live four blocks from a grocery store and the neighborhood is littered with abandoned carts, every single day. I actually put the store's phone number in my cell phone so I can call them and tell them to send the cart pickup service to my block.

A dog's tongue is both it's washcloth and it's toilet paper :0&

The body snatcher 'pod people'. These are the people in front of you and walking really, really slowly- blocking your way or bumping into things- because they are completely absorbed in their phone or tablet. It's like their brain has been sucked out or commandeered by an alien invader.

Runners who run 2-3 across instead of single file on narrow roads with curves. Bikers too. People that come very close to me while properly running. Don't chat on a busy road!

I f***ing hate, hate, HATE HATE my commute!!!! With the red hot passion of a thousand suns.

(Ok, I feel a little better.)

Why do drivers get on the exit lane just to get a couple of cars ahead and block us who are existing? I deal with this daily at the Holland Tunnel. Some smarty pants always wants to get ahead of the traffic by blocking the left lane that exits to Hoboken. And then he gets pissed off becase people blow their horn to tell him to move it!

Ridgewood Road, heading towards South Orange Ave., was one big crapped up mess this morning.

That makes me CRAZY. Happens all the time on 24. It turns into 287, and there is a clear division- one lane for 287 South, and one for 287 North, which leads to 80 and gets very clogged. The only reason the 287 South lane is ever backed up is when some jackass feels he's entitled to pass ALL of the waiting cars on the left and then merge at the front of the line.

OK, first a little background. I live in a development that has both garbage and curb side pick up on the same day. There are no trees on my block, and a very strong western wind. I am the last house on the block, in the direction the wind blows. Right after my house is a berm/hill. So almost every weds, as the garbage people take away stuff, what they don't get to blows onto my lawn and stops at my berm. People need to tie down their dookey! Sometimes, when we go away on vacation, we come back to a huge and unsightly mess. There is a net they sell that goes over the recycle bins, but I was the only one using them so I stopped. I even sent out a community e mail (the only thing we have that does not even come close to MOL), but to no avail. Everyone is so wrapped up in their own lives that they have no consideration. So they drive past my house, see all the garbage, know it is their stuff, yet don't really care.

OK, that felt better.

Brooklyn is not the epicenter of all coolness. Please get over it.

Yes it is, and I've never lived there. Of course, that's my opinion. What's your epicenter?

I respectfully disagree with Tom. There are far more edgy, funky, artistic places than Brooklyn (which has become increasingly expensive and affluent)... but nobody other than the uber cool know about them yet! ;-)

Sorry but Brooklyn IS the coolest place on earth! Or maybe at least the biggest coolest place :p

Is that a 'bitch' or a 'brag'? If the latter, you need to start your own thread question

(PS - I'm originally from Canarsie and I kinda agree with you)

I get a little peeved that people from Brooklyn think it's the coolest place on earth and yet, where are they living? Sheesh!

Brooklyn is the pits.

It bugs me when people write posts and leave out the beginning of a sentence, usually the word "I" or the phrase "I am" or "we are". I cannot think of the name for that particular part of speech or language.

Examples might be something like "Wondering why that guy was in the park so late at night" or "Praying that little doggie finds his way home safely". This is an incorrect way to start a sentence, & it grates on my nerves. It would sound very awkward if spoken.

I was thinking of starting my own thread to discuss this matter, but I believe this is a more appropriate place to rant and and get over it.

But seriously, stop doing it. The English language begs you.
