Reporting from my basement: Politics and pandemic, a deadly duo

“The scientist is already in the United States.“

As I had pointed out in my post. She wouldn’t have made it out of China alive after her report.

You wrote, "What motivation would a scientist have to fabricate her findings — expect getting into the United states alive?"  As I wrote, the claim was made after she left China.

[Edited to add] And there is nothing "pointed out" in the post about the scientist's arrival in the United States.

Mario, your opinion will never change.  You are incapable of changing your opinion.  You are damaged beyond repair.

My opinion has not changed. The 24/7 news cycle, with folks  with a computer or phone reporting events as they interrupt or believe; print and TV reporters want to be first to tell a story — whether true or false; all in all, a combustible mix.

What so easily ignites hostility here, on a small town message board, is an indicator of how blind we are to what’s actually happening in real time. Kill the messenger!

You bring messages of ignorance and lies every day and yet you live.

LOL!  Trumpniks have incredibly thin skins.  Comes from all the baby eating.

it's the sharing of bogus, debunked stories that ignites hostility.  The claims of Dr. Yan have been rebutted by eminent scientists all over the world who have zero reason to lie.  Why might Dr. Yan make up such a story?  Perhaps the fact that she can now make an easy living in the U.S. off the right wing gravy train, where liars and provocateurs like Tucker Carlson will be only too happy to give her a platform.  I suspect it will be only weeks until she's giving paid speeches to wing nut groups, and perhaps even gets herself an invitation to a White House coronavirus briefing.

No way I am watching that video.  Sorry Mario.

Why do you keep calling her Mario?

That's his name.  The 400 pound unemployed former convenience store clerk who lives in his parents basement in Hackensack and splits his time between trolling MOL and watching furry porn.

I know we aren't supposed to out people here but it really just got to be too much.

Oh, for a second there I thought you were an adult.

Just an adult that is very, very tired of her BS and very VERY sad to see the way she and her ilk have wrecked this country.

When it was just her defending pedophiles, that was one thing but people are going to die because of what these scumbags have done.  Hell, people already are dying in the hundreds of thousands.  The time is long past that we stop coddling Nazis. Anyone who won't acknowledge that needs to GROW UP.

On this mourning if on no other.

The only reason why I stop by here from time to time is to see whether Jamie has finally decided to take out the trash and ban her.  I doubt that will ever happen because she drives too many views but its pretty hypocritical to complain about race baiting and misinformation on social media while you host someone who's sole purpose on line is race baiting and spreading misinformation.

In case you weren't keeping up in 2016, "Mario" is the guy Trump said hacked HRC's emails.

Making a career of accusing another poster  of supporting pedophlia and Nazi criminality is, I would presume, about as personal attack as is possible.

He has now decided to include racist branding! In response, also presumably, due to my objections to the violent protests in which our cities have been trashed, burned and looted  across our country, destroying the livelihoods of minority business owners along the way. Billions of dollars in  property damage to federal, state, county and public property will have to be rebuilt — at taxpayers expense.

I support and have participated in peaceful public protests. I doubt if such can take place going forward. Opportunistic vandals can be expected to take over such demonstrations, sadly.

He is not “bored” — quite the opposite— he has been working his hate here for several years. He thrives on it.

His alleged six week furlough (in Canada) has made him even angrier. His first act back was to post a denigrating comment on the Pope Francis thread which had fewer posts of late.

Life on MOL here was more civilized however.

Your habit of blaming the victims of sexual assault and systemic racism are on the record here and speak for themselves. I wouldn't use the tone that some others take with you. But if you were going to be honest with yourself you'd see the accusations do indeed have some basis in fact.

Your support of rapist priests, your history of race baiting, your penchant for spreading misinformation and your support of the most vicious Nazi since Adolf Hitler are not personal attacks, they are statements of fact.

The actions of you and your ilk have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans including members of my family and yours.  Now, you and your fellow traitors are poised to plunge this country into the worst cataclysm in its history. Again, not a personal attack but a statement of fact.

On this horrible day when those of us who remain committed to the idea of America are in mourning you have the audacity to come her and accuse ME of hate????

Shocking.  Simply shocking.

Again, I ask why Jamie continues to let mtierney use this platform for race baiting and to spread dangerous misinformation?  How can we condemn Mark Zuckerberg when our own host is behaving in exactly the same manner?

And to top it off, she whines incessantly.

Because Facebook’s reach is somewhat wider?

Billions, you say?

Mtierney, I am going to take off now.  I may check back in on election night but, in the meantime, I hope you find it in your heart to think about the terrible damage that you have done to your soul.  It is never too late to try to become a better person (until it is too late).  There is still time for you but you have  A LOT OF WORK TO DO.

I really will pray for you.

This isn’t on the site admin. MOL should be an open forum barring some truly horrible, really out-of-line behavior,  which I don’t think mtierney is guilty of. She has her views, which many think are reprehensible, and they may well be. But, c’est la vie. live and let live.

It’s the posters who engage mt, including klinker, who feed the beast. As a Trumper, who seems to love attention, of course she’s gonna have a blast on MOL — her posts are like nails in a room full of people with hammers. As I’ve said previously, I don’t bother engaging, not because of her views per se, but because her MO is to not really respond substantively to anything, rather she just deflects and moves on. Life’s too short for that nonsense.

I personally think her threads should be like 3 am infomercials on local access networks - they’re broadcast, but nobody’s watching. But the threads are always buzzing, so what do I know.

Multiple cities = multiple $$$$.

Thanks for the first link, which led me to its source (Axios), which led me to Axios’s source (Property Claim Services), of which Axios says:

“PCS, a unit of Verisk Analytics, won't reveal an exact dollar figure from this year's violence because it wants to sell that data to clients. But it says the insured losses far outstrip the prior record of $775 million from the 1992 Rodney King demonstrations.”

(Just a side note. Axios puts the total this way: “at least $1 billion to $2 billion of paid insurance claims.” Those claims include goods stolen by looters. Those goods are not damage that “will have to be rebuilt.”)

The millions of dollars cities and states pay to settle police misconduct lawsuits, on the other hand, is money being paid out at taxpayer expense. Though given the extreme difficulty in holding police officers accountable for misconduct, even this is a fraction of what it probably should be.

Worrying about "billions and billions" in damage while evincing very little concern with lives lost strikes me as a callous and willfully blind way to talk about things, but if that's really the route we're going to take, then surely the interests of saving money should focus on radical police reform to stop the large direct costs to taxpayers their misconduct results in and the indirect costs caused by their choices to escalate tense situations. Our country's attachment to white supremacy is easily costing us well more than "billions and billions," yet we seem unable to quit it.

Insurance payouts will raise the rates for property, real estate coverage, etc. So you and I — and every other insured person— will be held up to cough up the money. The “goods” aka stock, merchandise, etc, while not to be “rebuilt” , must be replaced. If the business owners had no outstanding bills for the losses, they may break even. If they were in debt, they are underwater. In addition, many businesses may never return, leaving former employees without jobs.

200,000 Americans are dead because of the ineptitude and selfishness of the President that you support lock, stock, and barrel.  Those people have families in distress, debts, grief, and lots of fear and anger.

Your continued support of the bastard in the White House disqualifies you from ever having the right to even suggest that you are concerned about anyone else - because, really, you just don't give a **** about anyone else.   If your insurance rates go up tough ****.

When you do finally meet your maker, I sincerely hope that you have repented for your abandonment of the very morals that you pretend to hold so dear to your heart.
