Murphy vs. Ciattarelli: Surprising election results, or not?

one of the reasons that was a not at all clever response is that plenty of so-called "red" states tell people what they can or can't do with their bodies regarding public health.  Back before trying to keep people healthy was political.  Back before the GOP was a death cult.

Deomcrats would never tell people what they can and can't do with their bodies

At least not until after Election Day.

Getting an abortion just got easier — safe, maybe not so much  — but I can envision complications ahead.

Oh, please.  First trimester abortions are not particularly risky.  Abortion providers aren't going to put women's lives at risk.  Jeez.  You almost seem to believe people like getting abortions and that doctors like performing abortions.

But, like you Mtierney, I wish for a return to the days when abortion was illegal and women desperate for abortions took terrible risks.  In a recent episode of Call the Midwife, a pregnant women who simple could not afford more children opted for a back-alley procedure and nearly died.

You should watch Call the Midwife - it shows among other things, nuns living in the real world serving a poor community and balancing faith with reality.

I, for one, practice what I preach—  back in the ‘60s, before Roe v Wade. Television entertainment shows are fun to watch, but real life in the real world beats all.

If you are saying that you would never consider abortion personally, that is fine.  At issue is whether or not a bunch of - mostly men - should tell women what to do with their bodies.  I would imagine that there are more than a few anti-choice women who would obtain a safe abortion somewhere if they had a unwanted pregnancy.  A lot of conservatism seems to be "do as I say, not as I do".
