Marco Rubio just disqualified himself from being President

What you claim to have meant is also BS.

She was not highlighting someone else's hyperbole she was providing her own and I repeat, I am not alone in seeing her comments as such.

You seem to be having a bad day.  As noted, Ms. Bettyd directly refernced and quoted Rubio's hyperbole, which is about as "highlighting-y" as one can get.  So, not BS, once again.

I'm still trying to find who else accused bettyd of hyperbole.

He should appoint someone asap.  Hopefully there will be another campaign finance case and we can get rid of the atrocious Citizens United decision, one of the worst SC decisions of all time.  Money is speech and corporations are people.  This from the so called strict constructionists.  Judicial activism at its worst from the group that decries judicial activism.

What problem do you have with the reasoning in the Citizens United decision which prompts you to declare it atrocious and one of the worst SC decisions of all time?

If it's only the result which troubles you, your hyperbole will be treated as such.

Thanks for any help in better understanding your position.

Got it. Thanks!

I'm still wondering when it became an offense to engage in hyperbole on this forum.

The removal of trees in the village tomorrow calls one topic amusingly to mind.

It's not an offense but don't try to deny it when you are called on it.

I wasn't going to get into this but it seems like a recurring issue.

I'm still trying to figure out where I engaged in hyperbole in either of my two posts noted above.  Even if I did, this board is basically hyperbole central.

Rubio is the one who said he's going to rebuild a vibrant culture of marriage and family.  I hope he uses President Obama's family as a shining example.  Sorry, was that hyperbole?

As for Citizens United, the majority determined, in a nutshell, that corporations are persons and money is speech, as I said in that post.  I could go through Justice Stevens's dissent for a more erudite and expansive explanation of the majority's failure to follow about 100 years of precedent and its ignorance of the obvious deleterious effect of money (corporate and union) in our democracy, but everyone is free to do that on their own.

BCC,

I went through the thread. Betty has not denied that she engaged in hyperbole.

Edited to add: Well maybe she did while I was typing.  oh oh

Not hyperbole. Just sarcasm.

He said this at the debate last night:  "I just want to say, at least on behalf of me and my family, I thank God all the time it was George W. Bush in the White House on 9/11."

We can't have someone that dumb in the WH.

Is it hyperbole if she really believes that Rubio is dumb.

I don't think he is dumb, but saying he is very glad that Bush rather than Gore was President on 9-11 strikes me as a rather stupid statement. Does he think Gore would have reacted any differently? For what it's worth the VP would have been Lieberman, who as I recall was the principal Senate supporter of creation of the Department of Homeland Security.

I've complained a million times about the use of hyperbole here.

Rubio is the one who invoked 9/11 and said he thanks God all the time that W was in office on that day when we were attacked by 15 Saudis, two guys from the UAE, a Jordanian, and an Egyptian - all Al Qaeda operatives led by OBL.  What did W do in response? He invaded Iraq, which had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks and where Al Qaeda had no presence.  OBL, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks and the person most responsible for them, was admittedly, through W's own words, not of much concern to him.  All facts, not hyperbole.

I don't see how anyone could be thankful that guy was in office on 9/11.

I'm pretty sure Osama Bin Laden was.

I would have preferred someone who stopped 9/11.

Not only is this guy dumb, he's a total loser.

Hyperbole or sarcasm.

This is a guy for whom I have little use but he entered a race with 16 other contenders, 11 have bit the dust and he is 3rd among the 6 remaining and 1st in the so-called 'establishment' lane.

Again, hyperbole or sarcasm.

who really cares?  oh wait, I know the answer.

I wonder when the first meeting of his "Marriage and Family Advisory Board" will take place, and what will be on the agenda.

He'll probably miss it, just like he frequently misses Senate votes and terror briefings.

Agenda:

I was promised dog weddings when gay marriage happened

Where are the dog weddings?

Am I not good enough to be invited to your dog wedding?

The answer is bettyd, several others, and obviously you. People who don't care don't post snark. They just ignore.

I'll bet that wasn't your answer, was it?

And just to show you I am a nicer person than you I will tell you Guayanabo Sunset is no longer top flight.

OK, calling him a loser is hyperbole.

From watching the debates, I think it is safe to say

Rubio is not very bright

Rubio likes to change his positions to fit the audience (ok, as do others including Hillary) but that does not make it right.

Rubio is not ready to be POTUS - maybe in 4 years, maybe in 8, but he would be a big mistake for this country.
