Not Jim Jeffords - who was a relatively decent guy from VT.  It was Jim Jordan, a guy who literally ignored the molestation of his wrestlers.

And was awarded the Medal of Freedom by a now twice impeaced President.

Kind of think it tarnishes the medal.

It was tarnished way before this.

I am not sure how the whole conviction thing goes ( trial?)  and how many repubs will be needed to convict etc

but I predict it aint gonna happen

Well, President Bush I gave one to Storm Thurmond for a start. His son gave one to Bill Cosby. But I mean it’s really like the Queens Honour List now. Little more than an OBE.

The best part about all this is now he's de-platformed from social media is that I don't have to listen to people discussing what he said about any of it, because I honestly couldn't give a fu

Two-thirds of Senators present and voting. Ordinarily 67.

Abstentions don't count as voting, and absent Senators are removed from the denominator. So it doesn't have to be 67.

The Senate will not convene until next week. Trial will take place during Biden's first few weeks in office.

It's a long shot, but it's possible the Senate could prevent him from holding public office ever again.

Yeah but how would a Don Jr. administration be any different than Sr.?  I don't get why it's important to prevent him from holding office again.  It seems to me that people like Cruz and Rubio secretly would support is removal if that's the result.

preventing him from running again would greatly diminish his importance going forward. people would not pay attention to him nearly as much.

I think even the MAGAs know that Don Jr is a pale imitation of daddy. As damaged as the Donald is, and even though he's a malignant narcissist, he's got a creepy charisma that his lackwit sons don't possess.

"Believe me.  Have I ever lied to you?"

More or less than giving it to Devin Nunes, another one of Putin's useful idiots.

I agree with ml1 that Don Jr is not likely to garner the support of his dad.

Trump sucks the energy and air out of the room. In 2015-16 he made a lot of Republican candidates all but invisible. He'd be like one of those superwide trucks on the highway hauling a house ... just slowing everyone down and hogging all the lanes to himself.

Once again a small handful of votes made the difference winning the electoral college for Biden. I think Wisconsin, Arizona and Georgia added up to about 40,000 votes for Joe. Trump the elder could win those votes back in 2024 with the right focus.

If Trump is disqualified from holding office, he won't be able to raise funds.  Even if he drops out, he would be allowed to transfer the funds to Don Jr. or another candidate of his choosing, and in effect still control the party.  Money is still very important, and he could rise a gigantic amount if he isn't disqualfied.

And let's not forget the Rush Limbaugh medal.

I'm waiting for a Stephen Miller update. Talk about the man behind the curtain. His name never comes up. I keep imagining everyone in Trump's circle being indicted for one charge or another and Stephen Miller quietly slinking away. Or they could be digging into his emails as I type.

Then again he could just be the next Medal of Freedom recipient.
