Very surprised that Bernie is skipping the CNN LGBTQ Town Hall.

Not surprised that Tulsi is skipping it.

He's going to the climate townhall that Warren is skipping. If we lose the planet there will be no LGBTQ.

Warren is going to the LGBTQ  Town Hall.  It's important.   But not for Bernie.

Something is very wrong with the Sanders campaign.   This is inexcusable.  Seriously.

so,

"I don't trust any polls"

is not the same as

"I don't believe in polls"

in NanLogiC

we await the predicate calculus proving this.

De Blasio out. Announced just now on Morning Joe.

Blame everyone but Bernie.   Got it, Nan.

I can't say as I'm surprised. From the moment he declared I thought his was an unlikely candidacy.

I must say, this is pretty funny

Oh no, really big political news, perhaps the biggest story in years! Part time Mayor of New York City, @BilldeBlasio, who was polling at a solid ZERO but had tremendous room for growth, has shocking dropped out of the Presidential race. NYC is devastated, he’s coming home!

It would be funny from Dennis Miller. When your elected Chief Executive acts like a 16-year-old mean girl it's not so funny.

But this is what we now expect from our President. Petty snarkiness (or snarky pettiness).

it's not that funny coming from anyone. Every "joke" is tired and obvious.

Coming from the POTUS? Expected, yet still somehow pathetic.

wow. another National poll showing Trump losing. Join the party.

Specifically losing to the man from the North country.  I will have some punch........thank you.

Oh you did see the prior statement to which I attached the poll?  No soup for him

Lighten up Francises.

I long ago inured myself from any shock value provided by POTUS tweets. But I still occasionally find him humorous.

I actually liked Trump for his entertainment value way back early in the last primary season, when he was a novelty act on the far end of the stage. I liked how he rattled cages, like those of Jeb and Ted Cruz.

This stuff today is like the legacy of that. Is it sad and pathetic coming from the POTUS?  Yes. But I still find some stuff funny. Life's too short to tsk-tsk everything.

Life’s too short, but every “Lighten up, Francis” makes three seconds seem like a thousand, so thank you.

more proof of my A$$hole Theory of Trumpism.

What theory is that exactly? Are you calling me an A$$hole?

Please clarify. I think someone may need a timeout.

Well, I don't know you well enough to call you an AH.

However, Trump's fundamental personality characteristic is that he is an AH. His behavior during the primaries was that of an AH. You seem to find that endearing.

I'm not sure if it's possible to admire an AH and not be one, but I have my suspicions.

Rather than asking me to take a timeout, you should be thanking me for this opportunity for self-reflection.

Smooth retreat. Got your digs in, inaccurate and mischaracterized as usual, but left it subtle enough to not be flagged. Impressive.

Hard pass on the thanking suggestion. I'll go with the rubber/glue retort.

Anyone see the climate change forum? Saw a pretty cool interview that Chris Hayes did with Al Gore. I found Gore more interesting than I did in the past. Bernie did pretty well, I'm going to see what happens tonight. The students had some impressive questions and comments. Good for them and apparently climate change is their biggest voting issue. I always thought the endless healthcare debate would leave them disinterested but climate change, there's a winner. In our 20s didn't everyone either think they would live forever or die at 30?

Did hear a couple of Bernie supporters and a Castro. Good kids all. Action Together NJ is already active with registration initiatives and mail in ballots.

Great climate change protests around the world. So exciting to see active engagement.

Go team!

DB: Is it possible that all of us have a little AH that comes out from time-to-time*?

*- including the two of us, individually, on occasion.

No verifiable source, but interesting anyway:

Trump Privately Tells Confidants That ‘Socialism’ Won’t Be ‘So Easy’ to Beat in 2020

The president is not totally sold on the attack line that he and his team have made so central to their campaign.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-2020-president-privately-tells-confidants-that-socialism-wont-be-so-easy-to-beat?source=twitter&via=desktop

“One of the reasons I feel so strongly about Bernie’s ability to beat Trump is because we know that the Democratic nominee will have to credibly explain that Trump betrayed the working class with false promises and that he does not put forward real solutions to help struggling people,” said Faiz Shakir, Sanders’ 2020 campaign manager. “Bernie can and will do that successfully. We’ll have a national debate about policies that help the one percent versus policies that lift the 99. I get the sense Trump knows the reckoning is coming and is worried about being exposed as a fraud. No Sharpie edits will save him.”

This just popped up in my Facebook feed.

I'm not tsk-tsking as much as just pointing out that his tweet wasn't funny. It was lame in the humor department.

It occurred to me as I was brushing my teeth this morning that Mayor Pete is Alex Torpey post puberty.  I remember how frustrating it was to see SO's problems go unaddressed while Torpey was off tooting his own horn at various national conferences.  I can only imagine how the citizens of South Bend feel with their mayor jetting all over the country when all they want is for someone to fix the potholes.

nope. I know what's funny. And that wasn't funny.

With Trump, tragedy is easy, but comedy’s hard.

Isn't funny a subjective thing? How does someone "know" what's funny?

This is highly ironic but "I know what's funny" sounds like something...uh...a certain bombastic,  grandiose, and idiotic POTUS would say.

which also makes it ,well, funny.

actually what's funny isn't hard to discern. I gave you a reason why Trump's "jokes" weren't funny. They were obvious and hackneyed.

And I do know what's funny. It's one area of human endeavor which isn't in doubt. If you are trying to make people laugh, they either laugh or they don't. Comedy is binary.

And I know that there's nothing more ridiculous seeming than pontificating about what's funny. So at the risk of sounding like this guy, I'll repeat that I do know what's funny and what's tired and trite (and not funny).
