STARBUCKS

Why is English beer served at room temperature?

It's not. It's served at cellar temperature, which is around 50F. But that depends on the beer. Lagers are usually served cold. Stouts aren't supposed to be cold, they should be served at around 55-60 degrees, but I don't hold it against anyone if they want an ice cold Boddingtons.

But anyway, that's beside the point. Your original question was what's best restaurant near Stonehenge. And it's The Boot Inn in Berwick St. James. And the Wadworth 6X they serve there is very good at any temperature.

I will agree with author that Starbucks brewed coffee is just too strong and bitter for me, but I love, love, love their cappuccinos and lattes. Mm mm. Once in a blue moon, an indulgence in a frappuccino in the summer or hot apple cider in the winter is sublime. If I had a glut of disposable income, I'd open a Starbucks in my backyard.

Don't give them any ideas...........they will follow up the back yard outlet with one in your garage.

Fine with me. I have a big lot and college apartments behind me. Seems like the ideal spot.

An employee at Freeman's said the Starbucks has had a steady stream of customers.  I also saw customers this morning at Village Coffee, Palmer's Sweetery and Able Baker so hopefully there is enough business for all.

Maybe next door to you would be better.

IN THE INTEREST OF THE STAR DRINKERS THAT IS TO BE DESIRED. HOWEVER THE OTHERS YOU MENTIONED ARE ALL MOM AND POP.      They may have a few sub par years but decide to stick it out.  Star coffee is largely corporate and will close a non  performing store and not shed a tear.

First off - I'm not a coffee drinker, so I rarely go into a Starbucks.  I'm sure they'll do some adjusting - but it was freezing in there.

I have to say - the vibe doesn't match the spirit of the village.  Time will tell.

The Starbucks in Millburn is always freezing. The regional manager must not be very environmentally conscious.

Jamie......with work continuing through the building maybe the heating system is not completed yet.  They may have opened with a jury rigged system.

I agree completely.  I hope they put carpeting in.   It's so cold in every way.

I don't frequent Starbucks very often. I'm not a fan of their coffee and the food reminds me of what I can get in an aiport (medium quality and overpriced).  However, the free WIFI is convenient especially while traveling for business.

I dunno... My middle-schooler thinks the place is really cool and is looking forward to hanging out there with friends.  That's a demographic that could help them on weekday afternoons (cotton candy frappuccino, anyone?), much as commuters and late-night coffee drinkers will help in the early mornings and evenings.

I haven't been in yet as I think there are better coffee options in town, but I doubt the perceived coldness or improper vibe will be a big detriment to them.

Starbucks HATES middle schoolers. They create crowds without actually buying much. I think the one across the street from the Chatham Middle School may have gone as far as to ban them.

I think free WIFI has the same effect.

Yeah, how much revenue is the guy who orders a latte and then sits for six hours working on his screenplay generating?  At least the middle school kids have to be home in time for dinner, although who knows if they'll eat it after a rainbow frap and three cookies?

I can vouch for the middle school kids, my progeny has been there in groups more times than days Starbucks has been open..@author fight the fight regardless of the destiny of Ahab's charge, notwithstanding a certain angry pohzer (spelled intentionally incorrectly but correctly for intended meaning).  Further, would it not be considered literary diarrhea? Regardless, sail on (down the line, 'bout, half a mile or so?)

Damn the torpedoes.....full speed ahead

let me know how it works out

I'll be at the officers club.

fight what?

why do you want Starbucks in the village to fail?  Considering that there seems to be a segment of the population that is really enjoying it thus far, what do you have against a place that other people like?  What kind of person wishes misfortune on a business, and resents something that other people in town are clearly getting enjoyment from?

You have a not so unique way of putting words into other peoples mouths that have no basis in reality.

I don't mind anyone telling me what I am thinking because that is obviously impossible.  But what you say can be perceived as the truth when it is not.  Do this Bunky...........do the green underline thing and show me where I SAID I hope Starshp fails..........do that or back off.

What I said was that the Village will notsupport the place to the satisfaction of Starship Corporate and they will close the place after two years.  There is a mile wide gap between making a business prediction and stating one's desire.  Learn it.

so you ARE rooting for Starbucks to succeed?

good for you.

Oh no.  You don't worm out of it that easily.  Either show me the quote that says I am hoping the new store fails or admit you misquoted me.

meaning isn't limited to the literal words.  My interpretation is that it would make you very happy if Starbucks was forced to close its village location.  I stand by that as my interpretation.

Don't stand on one foot.  I truly dislike Starship,  in case you have not noticed.  My dislike parallels my dislike for schlock passing as coffee and the unhealthy factor of all the sugar in their Unicorn line of specialty coffees.

Diabetes delivered to  your door in a pretty pink package

Five quality stores promised by the builder have morphed into one.

As far as them closing,  the market will decide that just as it has so many stores in the Village

In summary we have a pretentious'.."I'll have a venti", overpriced entity,  selling a coffee brewed to make one addicted to their main product. Do I wish ill of them......no but neither will I mourn their closing

I will admit that I am impressed by the way they write your name on the cup when you first place an order.

That way when you finally get your coffee in case you have forgotten your name there it is on the lid of the cup.
