I'm pretty sure the law says you can indulge only in the privacy of your home. That joint in the car might not be such a good idea.

Joint in the car, not lit, is possession.
Possession is legal.
This is a real product. It kicks in at about 15 minutes and effect dissipates in about 2hours.

Our vote in November directed the legislature to legalise, but that hasn't happened yet. I would be careful about that until we actually have the new legislation.

I think the recent legislation did all that.
Sounds like public purchase may be a little ways off - you I was able to read a little of this article:
Seems like they need to insure there's an adequate supply, so that people who have a need for medical marijuana are able to access their supply first.
Here's more info that's not behind a paywall:

There are two parts of the legislation: legalization of possession and legalization of sale. The first has taken place. The second is in progress. I doubt that means we can light up in the school yard next to our houses. Clarification may be needed as to where we can light up.
Maplewoodstock? Although, I would not be in favor of that one because of the kids... but it would fit in with the spirit of the first Woodstock.

Oh ... the kids? Toddlers?
Because I have seen teens “saging” the grounds and stage after the old “fogees” are sleeping off their long day of frolicking in the “beer garden”....
If you go by the stage for the closing acts at night you are guaranteed to smell certain things.

Yesterday, driving down the parkway with a couple of brownies in my car for a present to my step daughter.... and it didn't matter if I was stopped for speeding and the cop saw the brownies or the joint in the console.
Warmer weather will find me on the patio roasting coffee beans and with a smile on my face.
