Farood Manjur (sp?) - the guy who writes about tech for the NYC - fell pretty hard for his preview watch and makes a good argument for why it's an improvement over just the iPhone.
The more I think about it - the more I like it. It's the first step in a large number of potential uses. Haven't seen one in real life - only tv ads. Also, I don't currently own an iPhone so it's kinda a mute point at the moment.
I think it's really funny that, for awhile, it became a sign of being old and out-of-date to wear a watch, because all the young'uns were using their smart phones to tell the time. Now, strangely, it will be the real forward-thinkers who wear the watch again.
One thing I adore about the watch is Mickey Mouse counting down the hours and minutes with his hands while he taps the seconds with his foot. When I was about seven-years-old my father bought me a Mickey Mouse watch for my First Holy Communion (Catholic).
If i'm paying $600 for a watch "Tag" should be somewhere in the name.
Can you even buy a Tag for $600 anymore? I think they are, on average, at least 2-3x that. And you can get the nice base sport model of the Apple watch for $349/399.
I have a fancy watch that I love but was searching recently for a more casual watch and even a decent no brand was $150-200 so the $349-599 of the iWatch doesn't seem a big deal to me.
I buy used. Havent had a nice watch in eons though. 16-20 hours a day in a machine shop is a great way to damage the watch or a lose a hand in an industrial accident because of the watch.
