I knew it!!!
Go Sheena!
Wait, we don't want to lose her!
Well, onward and upward!
While I support Sheena, I'm not sure this is enough to make me support Fulop over Sherrill.
It’s an interesting choice and I can see the logic in some ways. Sheena’s popular and apparently well-known. She will probably pull some votes from Mikie Sherrill. And she adds legit Progressive credentials to the ticket.
But now that ticket is quite strongly a North NJ-based duo. The NJ lieutenant governor job is relatively new so I don’t know how important it is to have geographic diversity. But my personal logic here is that this move might not garner a lot of additional support south of Route 78.
This also potentially disrupts my plan of Mikie Sherrill becoming governor and Sheena winning the special election to fill her Congressional seat.
I like Fulop because I really hate machine politics. Sherill is fine as a rep, but I'm sick of corporate centrist governors who are essentially Republicans who are pro choice, and her support for her race comes from that quarter. She also has no executive experience in running a government. Gottheimer has really turned me off with his ads. He will lower taxes for everyone everywhere but never says how. Spiller has really nothing going for him. Baraka I'd like to learn more about, but Sheena endorsing Fulop goes a long way with me. I am glad that she is joining the ticket.
I attended the meet and greet which Sheena hosted for Fulop and he truly impressed me. I agree with @DanDietrich that her endorsement is a factor. I had initially considered Sherill but we need good women in Congress.
As for Gottheimer, as someone who is retired and was once in real estate I realize my property taxes have made selling my home difficult so his property tax message caught my attention.
I can't quote Fulop but when asked about property taxes he referred to the many school districts, as a problem that would need to be addressed. As a former teacher I realize combining school districts is not easy and I'm already in the weeds bringing it up. I'm remembering how last local election people were alarmed at combining our fire departments but it went through.
In the past discussions have touched on other sources of funding for schools but I don't know how that works. I do know that one of the largest homes in our town sold so far below what it was assessed at that after paying those taxes and selling low, the new homeowners have much lower taxes and it impacts the other comparable homes on the street.

I like your plan…

Sorry to hear about your property tax conundrum, Morganna.
Has Gottheimer proposed any specific solution, though?
Absent raising income taxes (pushing out more high-earners) and changing school funding, how can he possibly lower them in a meaningful way?

Not that I've heard. So, since Fulop at least tried to answer the question from the audience, I'm leaning towards Fulop.
I'd like to see a debate or at least more guest appearances. I mentioned on another thread that before I voted for Sherill in the last election, I got a call from a pollster. One of the questions was, "Would you vote for Sherill if you knew she was planning to run for Governor?" I still voted for her.
I feel Sheena was smart hosting the event for Fulop. I've always been a fan of Town Halls or in person events. Aside from the attractiveness of politicians who "knock on doors," there is the appeal of a candidate willing to answer direct questions. I've heard from those who know Fulop from Jersey City and he is popular.
Sheena signing on to his team definitely tips the scale.
