I am really hoping that she was singing born in the usa to try and convey the irony of the song--maybe as it relates today to iraq war vets--but I'm afraid the delegates were getting into it as a patriotic song. Oh dear.

I don't think it's the meter. I think Bill has a lot of people in that audience who aren't viewing him as a sincere advocate for Obama.

Melissa Etheridge is now singing a medley of songs. I generally don't like Melissa but I have to say that she is particularly great here. The fact that she included Give Peace A Chance in the medley has not hurt her chances of getting on my good side.
It certainly seems like someone decided to make the hours between 8 and 10 PM count for something other than QVC shopping or wathcing the Mets bullpen implode.
