99% in Jones ahead by 9000 votes.

It's reported that McConnell won't swear in Jones until after New Years. The Dems have to fight that. It's the next battle. Mr. Jones has to go to Washington and insist on taking his seat!!!!

When will Jones take office?

McConnell said the new Senator would be sworn in after the New Year. So they are trying to get the tax vote without him.

Roy says it's not over yet - recount - mail-in ballots - etc.

What’s the typical protocol when a vote like this occurs?

www.businessinsider.com:  Republicans Blame Steve Bannon for Roy Moore's Loss

It's still sad that an accused pedophile came this close to winning a senate seat.  So even though it's a good sign - the country has a long way to go.

Next - the tax reform fight.

I wake up to great news but this is still true.  A guy who was already a proven wacko before the pedophile stuff surfaced was this close to becoming a U.S. senator.

NY Daily News nails it.

Still a head shaker by how many men and women voted for a man who trolled malls looking for young women/girls.

since I see frequent mention of my name on this thread, I feel I should make an observation:

Did Moore lose the election due to allegations re behavior 40 years ago.?

Or did he lose because his political positions were rejected by the voters ?

Every male this morning should examine his conscience and, if old enough, remember back 40 years and check if there were moments you acted, thought, or said anything that might flunk public scrunity today.

Wonder what percentage of males in Congress — of both parties — might yet be brought forth for public chastisement?

Maybe both. His peccadillos were brought to light, but so were his odd politics. I do think that people don't pay attention to politics much, until they are forced to. You know the old saw about sausage and law: Anyone who is a fan of either should never see how they are made.

Lady, a guy in his thirties who has a compulsion towards 14 year olds is a pedophile.  It's not like getting drunk at a party and getting "handsy" with an adult acquaintance 40 years ago, though I'm certainly not defending that and have never done it.  You've lost your bearings.

It’s either (a) not that hard not to flunk or (b) not that hard not to run for public office.

40 years ago I was playing kiss chase with 7 year olds. Yeah, I said it. They were a year older than me and should have been ashamed.
