Why would we think they aren't logging our activities already? Storage space is a red herring. It's the ability to SELL the data that is at stake here.



They can log what sites you go to. But once you're in a site, provided its a secure session like on bank sites they usually can't see what you do or when you're in the site.

Many newspapers such as the NYT, Washington Post, Guardian, now secure all their traffic. As do some shopping sites such as Amazon. Its automatic, you don't have to login. This prevents the collection of users interests based on what is visited on those sites.

@BG9, good point. We should stop using http to the extent possible. It's irresponsible for web sites not to have this option. cnn.com is an example. You can't (usefully) go to https://cnn.com
