Recycling on Monday December 26 and Monday January 2 ???

Yes, I'll call this week to find out for sure but does anyone know if there will be recycling on the above dates? I am well aware that if Christmas and New Year's fell on a Monday the pick up would be Tuesday but in this year's case it's only the legal holiday (observed) that falls on a Monday. See this link excerpt:

"RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE RECYCLING:
Curbside recycling will be collected EVERY Monday for the entire town.
If any of the following Holidays fall on a Monday: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, collections will be on the Tuesday after the Holiday. For any other Holiday (not listed) that falls on Monday, collections will remain on Monday"

Holidays that fall on a Sunday are often celebrated on Monday per union contracts. Thus, this is a valid question.

My "valid" question was answered by me making a phone call to the DPW this morning. The valid answerer said there would be pick up on December 26 (he does the website and confirmed that the company would indeed be picking up on that day even though I pointed out to him that for everyone else it's a legal holiday - no mail, no banking, etc.). He is going to confirm whether the same answer applies for January 2. Based on this you can go forth and put out your recyclables which may be quite full with cardboard depending on which holiday you celebrate. smile

So Orange Library is open on the 26th and 2nd even though it is a legal holiday. Guess business get to pick and chose

Some businesses do get to pick and choose but as Joan pointed out many businesses are dealing with employees in a union that puts another layer on whether they can or can't open based on personnel coverage.
