Recommendation for a primary physician

I need a primary care recommendation for a doctor in the United Health Care network. I would prefer an independent practitioner rather than a doctor from the Summit Medical Group.
Thanks.

I just saw Dr Young in Maplewood this Saturday and she was very nice and easy to talk to.

Pmartinezv, how so you like the new office!

It was nice and a great location! Yes the moved to 111 Dunnell.

They are now in a beautiful office, right on Memorial Park. HUGE upgrade!

Dr. Karen D. Young
111 Dunnell Rd Suite 200
908-598-6690
She is in my network. I will give her a call tomorrow.
Thank you.

I have also had several good experiences with Dr. Young.

Is dr young strictly an internist or does she do Gyn too?

They will do a basic gyn screen, breast exam, pap.
Dr Delio, Dr Sharma's successor is really nice and listens!!! I highly recommend her

Dr. Delio belongs to the Atlantic Health Care system. I am not sure that she is independent. Her office also asks for identification when you make an appointment. Yuk! They want to make sure that you are not going to defraud them. That is so offensive to me. What do you think? am I wrong?

Most offices at least when you first go there and perhaps once a year as they are required to update, etc. will ask for identification as does Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care.

I know this is policy, that's clear, but I just find it offensive. Your doctor is supposed to get to know all sorts of information about you, they have your life in your hands, but first they need your id? Doesn't feel warm and fuzzy to me.

I just received a letter from Dr. Cerrone's office saying they are switching to Atlantic Health for all their billing/administrative needs (yuck)(. According to this letter, I have to supply them with a government-approved picture ID card, along with my healthcare ID card, etc., etc. It sounds like this is Atlantic Health's policy, as I didn't have to do this previously.

Maybe to make sure the patient matches the health ID card and you aren't using a fake or fraudulent health care card?

I knew a set of twin brothers who went through several serious illnesses while 'sharing' coverage.

Yeap. They told me that it was Atlantic Health's policies, so it really defeats my goal of having an INDEPENDENT physician. This practice is no longer independent, it is a part of Atlantic Health.

I want an INDEPENDENT physician who is not going to recommend treatments or meds because corporate tells them to meet financial targets or who is not scared to criticize the recommendations of another physician because they are in the same group.

My eyes were opened about ten years ago when my gynecologist flipped out that my internist was giving me hormone pills when I hadn't even gone into menopause. I had no idea that I was taking hormones.

On another occasion a well known urologist told me to get a hysterectomy, because I had some sort of cyst. He showed me a picture. I asked how big it was, and he had no idea. When I went to the gynecologist for a second opinion, she had kittens. The urologist has since denied that he ever made that recommendation. I followed up with another urologist from the Summit Group who said that yes, there is something there, but it is something to keep an eye on. Surgery is not necessary at this time, but checking it every year is. When I told him about the hysterectomy recommendation he said "that is very aggressive."

I learned from this and other even nastier experiences to stay with practitioners who participate in different groups, but independence may be no longer possible given the realities of health care costs and payments these days.

I just heard that there's a new family doc in the Maplewood office on Dunnell and I hear she's wonderful - Elizabeth Jasolosky.  Just in case anyone is looking for a primary care doc.

YEAHHHHHHHHH  finally.  I made an appt with Dr Jasolosky for next week.  Hope she is at the least as good as Dr Sharma.  thanx Jeff

My daughter LOVED Dr. Delio, but was happy with Dr. Young the last visit. She bent over backwards to get some paperwork for daughter's new job, but seemed rather harried near the end of the day. Glad to see that Dr. Y has some help and won't be stretched too thin.

Report back   I think you're gonna love her.
