He's been sick for a very long time.

just wiki-ed him. Its true. Forgot he was in the Damned for like 5 minutes.

Sad news, didn't know he was sick.  Until I saw them on The Young Ones, I assumed they were just another standard metal band.  Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, early Goo Goo Dolls, and countless others owe Lemmy and crew a big debt.

Apparently he found out he had cancer two days ago. Very quick, and frightening.  

Well that sucks.  Lemmy was the man.  I agree with him that Motorhead was more punk than metal.  Whatever it was, it was awesome. 

By far the loudest band I've ever seen. This Lemmy quote nails it home: "We wanted to be the band that if we moved in next door to you your lawn would die"

I'm listening to this right now. Lemmy hosted a two hour radio show with some of his favorite tracks, along with a few of his own, on BBC 6 Music.
