Photos --- My first photo exhibit is at Millburn Public Library. Also, todays birding trip.

Forgot to put it, wipe it or shake it

I come to this thread when I want my blood pressure to drop a couple notches. oh oh

Fields are harvested and fall colors are showing. Yellow and red are replacing green as landscape color. Meadow vegetation is turning to seed.

The thistle (close-up) is seeding and Goldfinch take seeds to their nest. They eat the seed at the end of the seed thread and use the thread as nesting material to insulate through winter.

Sorry, no sunset today.

Taken with my iPhone (don't flame me pros, I am working on my skills).

Cedar, there is nothing to complain about. Good capture of reflection.

Question, and not a criticism... what is the pole that is sticking out but seems like it should have been observable on the skyline?

pole is a piling and it's shadow is longer than the pole itself because the light source is so low on the horizon.

but it does illustrate that the mind sees what the camera does not. The camera will only record what's in front. The mind 'sees' so much more. The beauty of the sunset and the reflection in the water was what your mind saw. The camera saw the pole along with all the beauty.

Joy,

Thanks for the explanation. Shadows get longer as the day goes on.

Cedar, no flames possible! That's a beautiful shot. I love reflections in photos. Doorways and windows, too, because they frame the subject nicely. But I'm strictly an amateur. I plan to go out later today with my camera because the leaves in CT seem to be at their peak of color. It's just gorgeous up here. So maybe that will be my treat, after I get through a visit with Mom.

I've been to the poor People's pub When my boys were pre teenish they thought the signs on the the bathroom doors were hysterical
The original one in Sanbornville? We used to have a summer cabin about 10-15 miles away in Maine, and we had "family" in Sanbornville, so we've been there many, many times.

Of course since I was a kid at the time I almost always got Scrooge's Snack (grilled cheese). I can't remember how long it has been since we've been there :-(

As I recall, "Pub Grub" was weak at best. When we got there, it was usually late in the evening and the pub was the only thing opened. It was that or be hungry or drive into Sanford.

To be fair, I haven't been there in years.

Something to consider for your iphone shots.

Thanx. Will consider and expect to submit a couple.

Fall flowers, fungus, Red Headed Woodpecker and a snake (probably Black Racer).

Snake was in a tree. We were looking in trees looking for birds when the reflection of sun off the skin caught my attention. It looked like a kid put a bike tire in the tree and I was going to take it down to discard it. Upon getting closer.... here was this guy, just enjoying the morning sun.

It is a park that was a golf course off of exit 36.. Glenhurst Nature Trail. Warren Twp/. Excellent photo ops.

That does look like a black racer.

Thanks jerseyjack and joy, for the question/answer about the pole. I didn't even notice it, lacking monocular vision, and all. The better explanation is I probably picked a pic from that evening for its impact without reviewing all of its elements!

Wow! Your photos are stunning!

Very peaceful.
The first one is my favorite...

Zen moment. Thanks for sharing.

Again thank you. Beautiful.

Stunning... what a gorgeous slide show those would make... so soothing.

LBI and Duke Farms.

And yes, I like meadow weeds.

What are those pods going to seed, does anyone know? I have them along my driveway, but don't know what they are. But boy, are they good photo subjects. smile

Great shots, as always, Jack.
