Us'ta be a community function called the Citizens' Budget Committee. They met with heads of different departments and reviewed their budgets and requests.
I know of two people who served. They saved $$$ to the community.
Why not bring back this service?
If anyone reading this would like to run the CBAC, contact the Maplewood Civic Association. They were the ones who sponsored it. It died out when they couldn't find someone willing to head the program.
What's the latest status? I know the starting point was an 8% increase in the municipal budget (which is insane).

We probably won't know until the budget is adopted. The hearings are just the first step in the process. Now the real work of setting priorities and making cuts begins.
