We've done it twice and have not used an attorney. But I would be interested in hearing from the real estate professionals.

Same, we've done 3 now and never used an attorney
both ways. not used an attorney when the refi was within a year or two of the original mortgage and surveys/ etc could also be used again.
You need to ask the mortgage broker handling your mortgage. As a realtor I do not get involved when people refinance so I do not know enough about it to give advice.
Did it two weeks ago with no attorney--a notary from the title agency came to the house to have us sign the paperwork.

Know there are some housing-related professionals on here - I am currently refinancing my mortgage with my existing bank (Wells Fargo). They provided me a form where I need to check whether or not I plan to use an attorney - any strong recommendations whether it is necessary? Seems like a pretty straightforward process, but don't know what is typical, first time I've done this. Appreciate any advice!
