He's going to rebuild a "vibrant culture of marriage and family."  Finally!  Thank you Marco, for coming to America's rescue!

Not hyperbole. Just sarcasm.

Not only is this guy dumb, he's a total loser.

Hyperbole or sarcasm.

This is a guy for whom I have little use but he entered a race with 16 other contenders, 11 have bit the dust and he is 3rd among the 6 remaining and 1st in the so-called 'establishment' lane.

Again, hyperbole or sarcasm.

I can't separate what you are quoting from betty from what you are saying. Please clarify.

This is her comment

'Not only is this guy dumb, he's a total loser.'

The rest is mine.

OK, calling him a loser is hyperbole.

At this point, calling him a winner would also be hyperbole.

At this point, considering how far he has come, and how far he has to go, you're both right.

Come to think of it, it reminds me of the old joke about the Rabbi.

Is that the one where a bear and a Rabbi are pooing in the woods?

Someone on a different thread mentioned your tendency for hyperbole. Take the hint.

Ms. bettyd was highlighting Senator Rubio's hyperbole, not initiating it.

At least hyperbole is linear.

I know I speak for millions of Americans when I say that I always turn to a politician when I want answers on morality and "values."

Actually, we all do, to varying extents, and why is that not a bad idea? We'd like our leaders to have values that help us grow in whichever way we think we need to. I think it's fine for us to tell our elected leaders what values we want promoted, but it sure would be nice if it came down from the top, too. No, lots of leaders aren't good at this, but it's reasonable to hope for. For example, I want a leader who can rebalance this tremendous wealth transfer. I want that leader to instill the thought in our collective consciousness that it is unthinkable to get filthy filthy filthy fcking rich by paying your employees fcking ***** wages that a life can't live on. We should all agree that there are minimal rules to play by and it isn't every man for himself. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. That's the sort of leader I'd like to have. If enough people agree with that, perhaps we can elect one.

I was being facetious of course.  But I meant more specifically turning to politicians for advice on family and marriage.  Given the track record, especially of those politicians who are most overtly pious and ready to give the rest of us relationship advice, I generally ignore them.

Excellent article on the forgotten lessons of the Iraq invasion.  Per the author, we invaded Iraq due to a long simmering neoconservative ideology that believes in the transformative virtue of American military power; that America occupies the moral high ground and it is our obligation to bring democracy to countries such as Iraq via regime change (even though 4,500 Americans died and thousands more were seriously injured, 100,000 Iraqi civilians were killed and the country was decimated).  This ideology is still present in today's GOP, with Iran now as the primary focus.  It is even present in some hawkish democrats.  He fears that history may repeat itself if we don't learn from the Iraq disaster.

Saw a Rubio appearance last night where he was harping on the American sailors who were briefly held by Iran and how humiliating it was and that something like that will never happen if he is President, because he's strong, not weak like President Obama.
So, according to Rubio, diplomacy that quickly defused a potential international incident which saw the quick release of 10 American service men (and one woman) unharmed was a mistake. We were able to negotiate with Iran and ratchet down a sensitive situation. Hey Marco, when a tense situation is defused and no Americans are killed or injured, that is a good outcome.

Rubio's position appears to be the same old neo-con one: use force in response to any perceived slight or situation as the solution for international problems.

Kind of reminds me of this exchange from Team America: World Police.

Lisa: Promise me you'll never die.
Gary Johnston: You know I can't promise that.
Lisa: If you did that, I would make love to you right now.
Gary Johnston: I promise I'll never die.

Rubio is competing with Cruz for the very Conservative very anti-Obama vote.

Cruz is running a commercial interspersing clips of Rubio with clips of Obama saying the same things about how to deal with illegal immigrants. It's an attack ad, the target audience being the Republican base. But to me the statements Rubio makes in those clips are quite sensible and if he becomes the GOP nominee he would do well to return to the positions he expresses in those clips.

whomever wins the dem nomination will just keep showing the video of his disastrous debate performance.  Shows perfectly his inability to think on his feet.

Pass the poor guy a bottle of water,

Pass the poor guy a bottle of water,

It will just show Christie bullying him. How ever it hurt Rubio it didn't help Christie one bit. Showing it over and over might generate sympathy for Rubio.

OTOH the substance of Rubio's repeated statement was that Obama was purposely harming the US. Showing that in the General is likely to hurt Rubio more than help him.
