Mara's Cafe

Rather than discussing the quality of the food and service, I wish we had engaged in a multi year, bitter debate about whether we should replace a historic vacant lot with an inoffensive building full of new businesses and residents spending money in our downtown.

Great that there are new businesses. Glad the vacant lot is occupied. Look forward to patronizing Mara's.

But "inoffensive" isn't the adjective that describes most of the built environment in SO and certainly doesn't describe the natural setting of SO.

Which is all to say, there is nothing wrong with setting the bar higher for Gateway II than "inoffensive" given that aesthetics - across the village - is one of SO's long suits that compensates for some of its short suits.

I mentioned to one of the more together staffers that she should pass on the idea that while the bathroom is great, it could easily accommodate a changing station on the wall, which WOULD be great.(I'm an expectant grandfather...)

I went tonight while I had some time to kill. They are still getting up to speed on serving, but the food was nice, and the people behind the counter were all very friendly. Overall worth a trip back.
