Does anyone think NJT will be affected for the commute home?

Its N.J.T. Of course the trains will be affected.

Agreed. What I'm really wondering is, will I make it home, and will I make it home within 45 mins of when I'm supposed to get home, or do I need to arrange for someone else to pick up my kid!

For NJT, the two biggest dangers for the evening rush will be debris on the tracks and loss of power, Neither is predictable, so contingency plans might be prudent.

Light precipitation is moving into the area now from the south.

Guess I picked the wrong day for my heat to go out... (I'm okay, really. I have contingency plans and PSEG will be here in the morning.)

As usual, thanks, Max. You are a true hero in my books.

I just received an alert from NJTransit that there are 45 minute delays in both directions on the M&E line due to a downed tree on the tracks between Summit and Dover. And so it begins...

I would suggest making contingency plans just in case. It is possible that after school activities could be canceled in expectation of the impact of the on coming storm. If conditions deteriorate sooner than expected, there could even be an early dismissal.

Now it's 60 minutes..."M&E & Gladstone Branch trains are subject to 60 minute delays in both directions due to a fallen tree on overhead wires between Maplewood and Dover stations"

Just got an email alert from the MPD of a down power line on Tuscan Road between Prospect Street and Valley Street. Assume residences near there are without power until the situation is remedied. No mention of impact if any to Tuscan School, which is on that block.

still powered up at Prospect and Tuscan.

My block has power too. Could be impacting those just to the west of us.

Forecast remains on track, with heavier rain moving through Philadelphia and heading towards Trenton at this time.

Expect heavier rain to develop here after 4:00 pm.

High Wind Advisory still in effect.

Flood Watch still in effect.

Near the shore, including Newark, are under High Wind Warnings. Just offshore from Sandy Hook out the entire length of Long Island under Hurricane Force Wind Warnings.

The center of the storm is currently off Norfolk. There is very little precipitation behind the front edge, which is currently just south of DC, but they expect that to develop more overnight. North and west will see snow or wintery mix from Jamestown, NY, through Boston.

(I rotated it)

Bit of sleet mixing in with the rain now, but should not accumulate or ice over any surfaces.

Heaviest rain now over central Jersey.

Is that a guy in swim trunks in the pool at the end of the track?

Yeah, I couldn't resist...

Did anyone get mail delivered today?

Mail delivered today, Jefferson School area. Now our Fios is down though. Happy we made it through last episode of Narcos season 2 before it went bye-bye.

They delivered our neighbor's mail to us. LOL

No problem with mail or utilities on Academy .

The Wind Advisory for our area has been cancelled early.

With less wind mixing down from the higher levels, we are seeing a bit less wind than forecast now. this should hold throughout the night, although 20 - 30 mph gusts are still possible.

Rain will continue through the night, as the storm center slowly begins to head east along the south shore of Long Island. The rain/sleet line continues to drift close to us from the northwest, but I still do not think we will have any accumulation.

The heaviest rains should end overnight, but lighter rain and breezy conditions are likely through midday tomorrow. The Flood Watch remains in effect, but barring a significant rain band moving through the risk is more coastal than here.

Mail delivered yesterday on Courter. No utility issues.

All watches and advisories have ended.

Rain today, chance of rain wtith a chance of sleet mixing in tonight. Breezy, with 25 - 30 mph gusts still possible, especially this morning.
