Lunar Eclipse

We were watching the lunar eclipse with our kid and we were just evicted from Floods Hill by (a very polite and respectful) SOPD officer. Apparently the South Orange parks are closed at night even during astronomical events. Several other families with children were evicted at the same time. The eclipse, however, was very beautiful . . . .

Where? We've been looking and looking and are seeing nothing. Feel like we must be looking in the wrong part of the sky.

Northeast part of the sky.

I've been on Flood Hill late at night seeing astronomical events--although that was several years ago. Wonder why he can't just leave you all alone or hang out for awhile.

If you can't see it live, look here:

It has poked out of the clouds a few times but has mostly been hidden.

I read somewhere about an effort to create a "Space Night" once a year where lights would be extinguished briefly so that children in cities could actually see the galaxy. Of course, the clouds were our primary problem last night but, having spent part of my summer in the mountains out west, I was reminded just how little of the night sky is actually visible from our light polluted corner of the world.

The Universe shouldn't just be for those with enough money to travel.
