I won't speculate on IQ.  But the the way a typical Trump rally attendee dresses is pretty tacky.

I don't that is a fair assessment. When I hear Trump supporters on cable stating why they voted for him, they don't seem angry, unhinged or uneducated. I just viewed a panel on New Day CNN and that group didn't seem to have a low IQ.

As much as I don't understand a sane, tempered Trump voter, I don't think calling their lot low IQ is helpful. That is the same as a Republican calling Hillary supporters Nazi Feminists Elitists (heard that one at Shop Rite many months ago and it stuck in my head).

Like race, I think people hear and see things differently. His supporters see him as being persecuted and disabled from doing his job. They don't hear his insults or dangerous threats. They don't see him the way we see him: sweaty, agitated, unnerved, subtracted from reality and angry. They what we see that as masculine and powerful. Again, I don't understand that distortion but it doesn't necessarily make them a group with low IQ's.


My favorite character, apart from the obvious star Af Am guy, is the guy in the lower right. He displayed the best siht-eating grin throughout the speech.


I strongly agree that (though tempting!) this is a counterproductive enterprise. Deriding Trumpists only confirms the feelings of humiliation and aggrievement which got him elected. When Trump speaks to them, they hear a respect which they believe they don't get from anyone else, a respect which was theirs in some imagined glorious past, and has been lost somehow to liberal elites. Trump has his finger on that pulse (though of course he won't enact anything to actually help those voters); we mock it to our further peril.

iwasmim, I think many of us first - after the initial shock of the election - tried to understand what got this Madman elected. All of that alienation-of-the-white-working-class stuff. 

For me, the unemployment, the opiate "epidemic" among whites, the fear of a black/brown majority, is all crap. It's the kind of stuff whites used to tar minorities with. 

Unemployed? Addicted to opiates? Feeling alienated? Buck up, folks. The arrow of time points only one way - forward.

Coal jobs aren't coming back. White majority is past. "Make America Great Again" implies return to the past. Time only marches one way - forward toward eventual entropy in which the universe will be cold dark and diffuse.

I'm not talking about all Trump supporters. I am talking about that small subset that go to his rallies and enjoy themselves there.

They are of a different kind.

You don't need to travel too far west on 78 to find well heeled Trump Supporters that can argue a myriad of points as to why they support him.  It is silly and dangerous for us to assume ignorance.

I think people are confusing ignorance with stupidity.  There are plenty of people with relatively high IQs who are complete and total morons.


the longer the Trump nightmare proceeds, it becomes very clear that he and his supporters are reveling in being ********.  It's not about anything more than being unrepentant ******** stigginit to the libs.

But they certainly seem to lack the skill of critical thinking.

How can anyone support him considering all of Trump's inconsistencies and lies? They haven't figured it out? Or is it they did but will support him anyway because he's a racist who they hope will put "those people" in their place?


In many cases, I think they want something (e.g. lower taxes) more than they don't want all the lies and baggage.

Honestly, let's start with Trump's IQ. He regularly Tweets nonsense, typo-laden conspiracies and rants. I've seen better self editing from my 7 year old. 

The guy doesn't even know how a solar eclipse works. Unbelievable.

That photo looks like "Dawn of the Dead" - political rally version.  The crowd looks like it's filled with zombie types like my right wing aunt and uncle and cousins from Dayton, Ohio.  My aunt and uncle visited Paris several years ago and my uncle proudly stated that he made them speak English while there.  They all love Trump. 


And I bet there is not a single solid thread of logic in all of their arguments. I certainly have never heard any Trump supporter not be utterly intellectually dishonest.

But again - I'm not talking about your run of the mill Republican voter who voted for Trump because he was the R candidate. Those people are not stupid or dumb - but they're morally questionable (at the very least). But their lot is reserved for a different topic.

I'm talking about the people who go to rallies and cheer his nonsense and shout 'Lock Her up!!" and other deplorable things.

You seem to be implying that Trump studied the electorate and is feeding them what they want.  I see a lot of statements like this and believe them to be completely wrong.  Trump doesn't study anything. He doesn't know anything.    He doesn't Shape his message to his audience.  It doesn't matter if we're talking about new legislation, foreign policy, or the intent of Charlottesville marchers.  He is always  himself which is simultaneously self serving, braggart, and victim.  He takes joy in sticking it to those who oppose him, and he has been successful only because the ignorant voters want the same more than they want to take a minute to learn who is actually working in their own best interest.  They are permitting him to be himself and vice versa.


This is correct. Trump doesn't have some supreme talent. He's just a successful, rich, TV personality who is a supreme assh***, and this combination simply connects with a substantial part of our population.

He is a demagogue and con man who definitely knows how to play to his "base".


We'll soon have 1/3rd of the population (trump's 2nd amendment solution) trying to kill another 1/3rd while the rest remain silent. Sounds familiar.
