Let's track Santa!

Since we're ahead of the USA, it makes sense for us to start tracking Santa first.

Feel free to add your favourite Tracker link below - I love the different versions and activities they dream up each year! (People in Asia and NZ get Santa before we do...)

AirServices Australia have a Facebook page this year, highlighting a special youth team created to liaise with Santa and the various air traffic control services. I got a few giggles reading the comments below clips and pics, especially when the truck drivers promised to engage Santa in 'UHF banter and freight support'. The part showing one day of air traffic around Australia is amazing.

30-odd mins ago, AirServices Australia announced:

**This is an official announcement from Airservices Australia**
Santa has now reached his cruising altitude and is currently making his way down the international date line towards the South Pacific. That means all good boys and girls should now start getting ready for bed!
Merry Christmas!

Well, apparently Santa's almost ready to leave NZ and head to Australia via Antarctica! Already!!

"We're pleased to report that Santa is making good progress. He's currently in the South Island of New Zealand and following a brief stop in Antarctica will head towards Australia!"

NORAD's tracker puts Santa just about to enter Jakarta, Indonesia:

That link didn't work for me... (Got a 404 message).

Currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

7am, Brisbane (Qld Australia) time, and 'the Big Man' has just visited Republic of Congo and distributed well over 3 billion gifts. That's some efficiency!

As I was falling asleep last night (around 11.30pm) a very young child down the street was getting into the family car, obviously for midnight mass.  And probably one of the first the child could remember: 'Nana, we're going to Jesus' birthday party! At the church!'

Happy Christmas Day, everyone!

I'm very impressed at Santa's linguistic skills. While he's in our airspace, he sounds remarkably 'Ocker'.  cheese

About an hour ago, AirServices Australia tweeted this pair of control tower recordings, confirming Santa's arrival (from NZ) and departure (for Indonesia) in our airspace.

...and now he's honing in on Ghana!

He's just about in Brazil!!!  ETA:  Sint Maarten. Safari kept crashing. Have had to close NORAD down for a bit.

Almost 4.5 billion gifts delivered... Wow!

I don't know who Google is tracking but it's clearly not Santa. The NORAD tracker is the official one.

If you haven't read the story about how NORAD started tracking his progress, it's worth a read on the website.

Mr I, I'm using a combo of AirServices Australia and NORAD. Know the NORAD story well, AirServices Australia has a different tradition and a different timing.

The current timing, for 4pm on Christmas Day in Brisbane Australia, is that Santa is heading for Wisconsin. And that's according to NORAD.

Chihuahua, Mexico and over 6billion gifts by now.

I read somewhere it was an average of over two gift-drops a second in Australia. I'm not sure what it works out to worldwide, my math skills aren't good enough.
