I have a client moving into this area ( Millburn ) who loves to knit. She asked if there were yarn stores in the area. Does anyone have any recommendations. Thanks !
KnitKnack on Springfield Ave in Maplewood. Great store, albeit small, with a wonderful owner. Farther afield, there's a decent store in Montclair (Modern) and a quirky one in Upper Montclair whose name I've forgotten. KnitKnack would get my first vote.
@sarahzm - We are fortunate to have a wealth of great stores in the area. Off the top of my head, In addition to Knitknack in Maplewood...
Wool and Grace - Summit The Blue Purl - Madison Knit-a-Bit and Do Ewe Knit - Westfield All About Ewe - Clark Belladonna's Yarn Room - Cranford
The Stitching Bee is in Chatham, and then there are Down Cellar and Trillium Yarns a bit further afield. I've probably missed some, but that should give your client a starting point.
Oh, and if she's a *serious* knitter, you might want to point her to Vogue Knitting Live coming up in January in NYC: http://www.vogueknittinglive.com/ehome/66410
@ceciliadav569 is there a knitting group? I'd love to meet up with fellow knitters (I need motivation to unpack my yarn after moving to SO two months ago!).
@flipfantasia, a small group has met a few times at a Maplewood restaurant. We're aiming for an early December meetup. Keep an eye out for the MOL Knitters (aka Knitters Alert) thread.
There's also a casual group that meets at the Maplewood train station at 10 on Saturday mornings, but I haven't been.
Thanks for the info! I've never really looked at that thread (it's so long and everyone seems to know one another! Makes me kind of shy about butting in!).
I need something on a week night as 2 small kids make day time ones impossible!
The MOL Knitters thread is open to all knitters. Definitely not clubby, so please butt in. I renamed it so we know where to look for knitters updates, but I can change it again if there's something better to call it.
