Breaking news...still shot from camera on Maplewood Ave...Dalton would have handled it differently!

this is a very serious situation for the bartender and the Gate.

Well, I aborted what I was told would be a 45 minute wait for a table the other day, so it doesn't seem that serious for them.

I think if there is a conviction (or, more likely, a plea bargain) and the bartender is not fired, you will see some sort of organized, highly vocal protest directed at this establishment, along with media attention. If this did indeed happen as the victim alleges then the many, many people who value our community's reputation for tolerance and diversity will not let this (alleged) outrageous stain on our town fade away.

mr incredible - How can there be any factual discussion when there are no facts? Just two stories and all our opinions.

But there are facts. A legal process has started. There will be an investigation and possibly an arraignment and trial. Actual things are happening.

This thread is turning into a battle of opinions and speculation and allegations about the complainant and defendant by people who weren't there. I think it is potential legal exposure for the forum owners.

That's funny ... Hey, someone should let Jamie know that someone is posting under The Straw's name ... Clearly identity theft, since The Straw said he was checking out of MOL at the advice of his agent ...

fired my agent. Hired Charlie Sheen's instead

I'm looking forward to reading the facts of this case. There is way to much hearsay and speculation about this.
There are three sides to every story. Can't wait to hear the truth.

I'm more interested in the "Douchbag Incident", and the terroristic threats made.
And whether or not the police, or others will pursue charges.
Not to mention the threats that have been made since then when people talk about it.

Now all that is true comedy, walk it home- walk it home!

A business owner called a patron a faggot on the premises. In Maplewood.

Another business owner laughed when I told her I wasn't married and didn't have children because I was gay. In Maplewood.

And then kicked him in the head. (Allegedly.) I'm astonished (some) people here are trivializing and/or joking about this. (Even though it remains just an allegation at this point.)

so there was an alleged assault inside and/or outside a bar in which an alleged epithet was used.

Now, so did Manti Teo know his girlfriend or not? I'm still confused.

here's the part of the allegation that looks REALLY bad: it happened outside the bar. if that's true, there's not much of a legally defensible reason for an employee to chase the person outside.

Big joke.

What if the bartender was actually the one assaulted first?
I wasn't there so I couldn't say, but....

i'm willing to let the system sort this one out. almost happy hour.....

words to live by.

When you have a horse in the race, see if you aren't just a tiny bit more perturbed.

I like it when MOL sorts things out, and posters don't go whining like wee little girls to Jamie and Dave making threats about posts and take it down or else.

Dooshbags, sheesh....

Who went whining to Messrs Ross? I was implying I wouldn't be surprised if they did take it down.

Nobody needs to tell them about this thread, I am sure.

The Brother's Ross know all!

They know what I did earlier today?

Oh, I gotta order some "keep quiet" fruit baskets.

Is this now a criminal matter or a civil case?

It is criminal/misdemeanor at this level. The judge could refer it to the county court to escalate the charge. It could become a civil case if either party chooses to sue the other for damages.

I think we can all agree that the legal system should play out. But if, hypothetically, the system determines that events unfolded more or less as alleged, what do people think the response from our community should be?

The bartender was working last night. Perhaps he was too hungover to show up in court, haha

not to order drinks 20 minutes before closing.

I am perturbed about this. A lot. But I am trying to reserve judgement and indignation until the legal system has worked. I really hope the entire affair has a full day in court and any wrongdoing is brought to light and punished.

That said, I am trying to empathize and see this from your point of view, and I think I can grasp (if not really fully understand) your depth of feeling about this mess. I have never walked in your shoes, and I don't envy you your negative experiences.

The Taoist Zhuangzi said, "Good order results spontaneously when things are let alone".
The sociologist, and historian, Adam Ferguson described the phenomenon of spontaneous order in society as the "result of human action, but not the execution of any human design".

What do you interpret that laughter to mean? It sounds like it might be ambiguous, and maybe you're choosing the least charitable meaning?
