Rastro, I just thought it ironic that the VP is talking about the middle class on the property of one of the .5%er's, among the fat cats who could afford 10K to dine on grass fed steak and truffled potatoes.

Maybe. John, is it ironic when such a fundraiser is held to raise money to fight starvation in some third-world country? Whe you want to raise funds, for whatever the cause, you go where the money is.

Ah, but this was a Obama campaign fund raiser. And to hear the 'common man' rhetoric in such surroundings is hilarious.

It's just hilarious that the Fox News types think this story has any relevancy. But...to that crowd, I guess it does, and that's beyond sad.

But, yes, campaign finance is an issue that should be discussed more seriously than it is.

Obama has discussed it, and reneged on his promises. First, in '08, to only accept public dollars. Second, in this campaign, to accept SuperPac dollars. Two broken promises for political expediency. That's your guy!

darn

missed an opportunity, there, jld

Yup. Smart moves by him, too.

Yup, just another reason to not trust him when he makes a promise, lol.

Yup, and the Republican candidates are trustworthy. Yup.

How does one not accept superPAC funds? Campaigns don't receive funds from superPACs.

Details, details. Recall that you're debating a fellow who doesn't know that much of Obamacare has been implemented already and who thinks that the Supreme Court is going to overturn it in its entirety.

As if you needed a reason. Get real.

ktc, gee, I guess you're so blind to the facts you can't see the source I linked in my first post, which isn't Fox News, lol.

Very true. It wasn't from Fox News, it was the "Washington Examiner".

There's a difference.

Fox News is a cable channel featuring right-wing ranting, for which people have to pay in order to be able to watch it.

"Washington Examiner" is a paper featuring right-wing ranting, which is given away for free. In the D.C. area, it lands on people's lawns, like one of those "Weekly Shoppers", and folks can't find a way to keep it from arriving.

It's always amusing to see the bleatings when faced with something so ironic as million and billionaires talking about the plight of the middle class.

So,, you're changing the topic of the thread to the GOP debates?

Translation: "No fair! He PROMISED that he'd only bring a knife to our gunfight!"

Right. You know it's a good decision when John bitches about it. Boo hoo...

"bleatings" appears to be a conservative (oops, "centrist") buzzword as well. can add that one to the drinking game.

dude, it's not so much that I disagree with you, it's that maybe you could put a little effort into some original ideas or vary your terminology. get a thesaurus. or just use the google.

off the top of my head I can come up with a bunch of other colorful terms to substitute for "bleating." how about:

whining
crying
wailing
squealing
whimpering
screaming
moaning
groaning
sobbing

it would make you more enteraining to read.

lol

John's Republican overlords do not want him to be creative.

To hear the rhetoric is hilarious. To realize that all decisions about the "common man" are made in such surroundings is sobering.

Meanwhile Mitt Romney went to 5 parties in New York on Wednesday and raised 3 million dollars that day. I'm pretty sure they weren't eating Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets there, either.

I find it far more absurd that the plotocrats go to GOP fundraisers where this is much whining about "class warfare" despite the fact that it's obvious the room is filled with the victors enjoying their spoils.

only in Bizarro World would there be any significant class warfare aimed at the rich

But he did say that he likes grits.

Cheesy grits, y'all.

The problem with Mitt is that he doesn't realize ***** like that only makes people hate him more.

Something tells me his mouth may have said "cheesy grits", but in his head he was thinking, "Polenta with fontina and parmesan."

That was breakfast, in the Sahth. I'm sure in New York he was all about the mini-bagels and lox.

Bagel and a smear for the Mittster!

I think it mainly rankles those who already dislike him. Otherwise, he sounds like any other politician when he talks that way.

Smear?!?!? WTF is a smear?

Hah! Schmear. Take away my Metrocard!

That's what Mitt calls a schmear.

Notice the pattern of indignation that always surfaces whenever Democrats raise funds? "Obama has to give back XXXXX's donation," or "Obama is looking for donations from people who have money to donate," or "Obama won't refuse to take the same money Romney is taking."

Like I said earlier, concern trolling by a sock puppet. I'd personally be embarrassed to find myself repeating verbatim somebody else's talking point. All it would prove would be that I can't think for myself, or can't process information well enough to shed any new light on the subject.

As long as the charity benefits, and not the fundraisers (Haiti comes to mind) I'm fine with it, of course. Those charities that give a tiny percentage of their proceeds towards the needy are disgusting.
