Italian Bakery for Christmas Specialties?
I was going to recommend Natale's, but looking at their website I don't see those. You might want to call and ask if they do them seasonally.
On a side note, my great grandparents got into a fight over Natale's in the 1930's. When they opened my great grandmother was happy because it was close by and she decided she was done baking bread. Period. My great grandfather said no, buying bread was too expensive considering all the mouths they had to feed and they were not buying what they could make themselves. Both refused to budge on the issue. In the end my great grandfather ended up baking the bread for the family every Sunday on his day off. Though I'm told by my father that in later years my great grandfather eventually had a regular Sunday routine of going to Natale's and picking up a loaf, though obviously by that time he was buying just for himself and his wife, and not buying enough to also feed nine children.

good idea. I forgot about them. They came through on the pork bread for me.
Try calling Calandra's either on Bloomfield Ave in Caldwell or in Newark or just off Rt 46 I think in Pine Brook. I know I've seen the honey coated cake made up of the little balls there and even commented how much it resembles the Jewish New Year sweet taglich.

I've thought about trying to make them myself, but because they involve kneading dough and deep frying - neither a strong suit of mine - that's a last resort.
I'm specifically looking for struffoli and cartellate. See below.
Anyone know of a good bakery around here that might make this stuff? I've spent a lot of time on google. There's a place in Shrewsbury that makes struffoli, but that's a bit far.
