My NJ native aunt moved to a town near Youngstown. Always used to take back liverwurst, Shickhaus bologna and bagels. Lots and lots of bagels.

If you mean Jaytee’s photo, I can only guess not a Philly thing.

Haven’t read the whole thread, so not sure if it’s all about hoagies vs. subs or Taylor Ham vs. pork roll. But felt I had to jump in with some good things to say about the city:

• Have SOMA friends who moved there to retire a while ago, and just LOVE it
• I was there last June to see Elvis Costello at the Met (with guests Nick Lowe and Los Straightjackets) and the whole experience was fabulous.
• Some of the neighborhoods that really used to scare me have come around quite nicely. They’ve kept their urban style with a good dose of history -- without selling out to total gentrification.
• It’s really been discovered by the GeneXers, due to lower cost of living and a lot of their own “group” as neighbors
• A friend of mine’s son moved there not long after college. Found a good job, a lovely, safe apartment building surrounded by great restaurants and a significantly lower cost of living.
• The son of a college friend brought to fruition a dream he had had since 2012, selling and personally delivering his own creation, the “Philly Muffin”, all around Philly. At the time he had no business ambitions – just an unshakeable instinct for building community and sharing food. In 2019, he opened his OWN retail bakery in Germantown -- https://www.merzbachers.com (I love that his homepage has a click through to their “Values” page, which gives you an idea of what a great kid he is, but also the kind of persona and retail presence he has always wanted to bring to the Philly area.) Congrats, Pete Merzbacher!
• I have put Philly on the list of places I may retire to. Never thought of going to the shore from there!  How long does it take to get to Ocean City from there? Or to anywhere on the Jersey Shore or near the ocean?

With minimal traffic, you’re looking at about 90 minutes.

Oh, good, so just about as long as it used to take to get to my childhood "summerhouse" in Hampton Bays on the East End.  (But that house belongs to my sister now, so though it's nice to have in the family still, I don't get there nearly enough.)

I grew up in Trenton, running down with Dad and an uncle to see the Phil's a few times a year.  My Philly taste/smell is a slightly cold, exhaust infused pretzel.  They sold the leftovers after the game to the folks like us stuck in traffic waiting to leave.  Nice and cheap, and probably lead infused since this was the early 70's.  I miss them.

Apparently it’s only available at the location in Langhorne. About an hour from MapSO. That’s too long a drive on the way back to expect me to not eat the whole thing.
