I've started to not open "What is being said in the Rose Garden"

Red pandas are adorable but they aren't pandas.

Then what are they ?? Cousins of pandas ?? wink

My understanding is that they aren't all that closely related, but people used to think they were. The red variety are sui generis.

They sure do look like family of the raccoons more than pandas. wink

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_panda

"The red panda is the only living species of the genus Ailurus and the family Ailuridae. It has been previously placed in the raccoon and bear families, but results of phylogenetic research indicate strong support for its taxonomic classification in its own family Ailuridae, which along with the weasel, raccoon and skunk families is part of the superfamily Musteloidea.[4] Two subspecies are recognized.[3] It is not closely related to the giant panda."

We have a gorgeous pair at Roger Williams Zoo in RI. Adults and kids fawn over them.

Kung Fu Panda should be bangin' 'em off the Monster in a few weeks!

As much as I love pandas, I think koala bears are even more adorable -- and they are smaller and love to cuddle! At least the ones at the wonderful zoo in Sydney did.

My earlier post about the panda breeding lab at this zoo failed to describe the amazing and funny reactions of visitors trying to keep quiet while watching these bears. Much shushing and fingers to lips, especially by little kids.

Okay. Piece of advice, though. Don't confuse a koala with a Drop Bear. Also, fake an Australian accent any time you're in the Outback, as they more likely to attack you if you sound foreign.

Oh, I speak Brooklyese, so I think I would be spared.

Now that thing looks delicious.

I still have not opened that thread since I started this thread almost a year ago.    snake

I've never opened that thread but re-reading this thread I'm kinda curious to see what's going on wink

And must add I haven't opened the Popes thread either. I wonder how that is going, since this Pope is great and his trying to make some good changes.

The content is more or less someone posting links to stories they likely haven't read saying that the linked items mean things that they don't actually mean.

I must admit, the juxtaposition of the Pope thread with the Rose Garden thread is jarring to me.  Cheer leading for the Pope while at the same time supporting candidates for POTUS who want to torture, carpet bomb, take away health insurance, and send immigrants packing requires a willful denial of the Pope's actual messages.

Dave, even after 15 years, you still misread me totally! question

Shall I type this in all caps? Every link I post I have thoroughly read. That allegation may apply to other posters, but not this wise senior, who knows not to shoot herself in the foot!

I think why some  are jarred by links posted by me is the fact that I have been critical of both parties at times. One tune folks get thrown off the their mindset!

I can definitively assure you that this is decidedly not the issue with your posts in that thread.

I'm jarred by the fact that a Lennon lyric comes with a Macca photo.  cheese

If you can find me a pic of Lennon sleeping, I will happily substitute.
